Don't blame you. I don't think it would stay closed for long in my house but I'd take my time finishing it

I have too many opened bottles of whisky right now, some of them being opened for 2 years. I'll have to stay targeting some bottles to finish or put back in storage.

I did a compare with a fresh laphroaig quarter cask and a two year old one with less than a quarter in the bottle an they were still pretty similar. The older one had however developed a much smokier nose. Certainly an interesting experiment.

But I get the problem with a lot of open bottles. I've got some brandies I need to work through so I can open some new ones. That and cupboard space is running out

Interesting experiment. Alcohol does oxidise but haven't been able to discern any difference. I've been told that is fairly safe until you get to about a quarter bottle then I should drink it fast our move the contents to a smaller bottle.

On the top shelf I've only got the Glenfiddich 30 year old, Snow Phoenix and Age of Discovery Bourbon cask that's opened. I love the Glenfiddich range and I have a soft spot for the brand as that's what got me hooked on whisky but my palate had moved onto more interesting flavors. Right now it's Islay.

Where's that

That is at Savoy liquors, Louis Botha Ave. Looks like I'm going back to get a bottle and try it out.

I got a bottle of Heaven Hill Bourbon from Liquor City for R160, well worth the money as well.

I tweeted Checkers to find out if they are running any specials for World Whisky Day. Apparently they are releasing an Aberlour 23 year old for World Whisky Day. They are going to get back to me with regards to which stores are going to stock it.

Ultra Liquor Savoy?
Or is there another one?

I got a leaflet today stating all single malt whisk(e)ys will be 20% off at Checkers Liquor on the 21st of May :)
