@morkhans OK you twisted my arm

I've come across some awesome stuff on (of all places) the Picardi website.

They sell quite a few travel only exclusives ( in 1Ltr bottles). Check these beauties.

Just keep in mind their site isn't really that accurate. I enquired about Clynelish 14 and they didn't actually have any.

Edit: seems their site works again

I suspected that.
Did contact them though and they confirmed which branch has what I wanted.
With the stupid alcohol regulations, I cannot get there during the week though :(

Can only walk into a liquor store Monday to Thursday 10am to 6pm.
So I cannot browse over the weekend.
Prefer not to shop online unless I absolutely have to :crying:
Well I could never drive into one at those times, so not sure what the problem is?

I buy all my booze online anyway...but I am ladida that way, so. Being a COVID survivor and all....

Has anyone been able to use the voucher that comes with the Three Ships 10yo gift pack?
I sent the distillery an email three days ago and got no response so far. Also tried calling them multiple times but no one answers the phone.

I'd like to visit tomorrow but I am afraid I won't be able to.. or should I just get there with the vouchers ?

Visiting checkers liquor, seeing a bunch of whiskey's I don't know at various prices, I realized I just don't have the energy.
Jameson Caskmates Stout it is.

They took forever to answer my email as well and then when I did the tour they never even asked for the voucher :)

Well this is why I'd rather walk into a liquor store and buy something that is on the shelf.
Placed the order online. They came back to say no stock. Stock is not up to date yet after the ban yet.
They going to refund my money :cautious:
That has never ever happened to me. Buy from a reputable place OR call them, like I have done many times, and ASK if they have the stock. :sneaky:

So checkers had 25% off J&B Jet 12, I've always thought this was a bit of an odd label with way too much marketing behind it and the liquid was probably rubbish. Well it's more than passable could easily stand toe to toe with JW Black and Chivas 12, I don't think it's as interesting as Bell's special reserve and it does have some astringency although it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would or could be. It's not terribly fruity but is a little creamy with a bit of honey, and surprisingly enjoyable. Worst case scenario add a dash of Ardbeg 10.

I probably won't buy it again but it's something I'd recommend to beginners looking for cheaper scotch. Still not as good as Glen Moray Chardonnay and Peated.

I hate the bottle though, it has a built-in pourer and is completely black. Thank goodness Bell's special reserve has a cork and a clear standard diageo bottle.

Today's haul

Jirre...you do understand the difference between being ALLOWED to buy whisky...and I MUST buy whisky?

Hehehe...nice one bro!

I just bought 7 cases of white wine online myself....

Being allowed didn't stop me, DHL delivered 24 bottles to me in January.

So much wine, r u off the whisky-wagon?

I only learned in December that white wine you want as new as possible.
Always thought it was like red wine, so when I got white, I took the oldest bottles.
Might be why I never liked it.

SA Master Distiller to be Inducted into Global Whisky Hall of Fame

Whisky Magazine announced today (4 February) that Andy Watts, Distell Master Distiller of a range of proudly South African whiskies, Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky and Three Ships Whisky, will be bestowed the great honour of being inducted into Whisky Magazine’s Whisky Hall of Fame!

The induction will take place on 25 March during an online ceremony when the Global Winners of the Icons of Whisky Awards, together with the World Whiskies Awards winners, will be announced.

The honour of Whisky Hall of Fame has been bestowed on just a handful of iconic people since its inception in 2004, as a permanent tribute to their lasting contribution to the whisky industry.

Andy will receive this prestigious accolade in recognition of his life-long commitment to the South African whisky industry and subsequently, the World Whisky Category (whiskies produced outside of Scotland, the USA and UK).

One of the Kilchomans will find its way to Luben and an Arran Sherry Cask will find its way back.

This one’s not for drinking at the moment.
