The only Whisky and coke I enjoy is with Lagavulin 16 or Ardbeg 10 or Ardbeg Wee Beastie. The peat works great with the coke...but plain Whisky does not .
My lockdown dop was Vat 69 and ginger ale, I was quite surprised.

I like my single malt straight up but, this has tempted me, gonna give it a shot.. so to speak.
I also drink my single malt straight up...this was just a summer drink after we had an online tasting with Compass Box and this combo of ginger beer and single malt came up.

A lot like a Smokey Cokey...punted by Lagavulin at their distillery.

Try a Laga 16 and coke...it's amazing.

Looking to get myself another bottle of Monkey Shoulder and see Takealot is R649 a bottle https://www.takealot.com/monkey-shoulder-blended-malt-scotch-whisky-750ml/PLID40724385/description, am I missing something how can it be R300 more than at Makro https://www.makro.co.za/beverages-l...ch-whisky-1-x-750-ml-/p/000000000000262195_EA
Because they selling it on behalf of ....

Couple of threads complaining about these third party sellers and pricing.
They should not be allowed IMO. Most of the time by selecting "In Stock" it will narrow
it down to Takealots products only.

So Takealot seem to add 7 to 10% onto the other sellers price and then a delivery fee as well..

From the page...

Sold by ACA Liquors
Fulfilled by Takealot

Seems ACA liquors is the one pulling a fast one...

My cheap whisky is "Teachers" and it's actually a really good price at Takealot, but it's not sold by a 3rd party..

Ah ok missed that. Is still crazy though. And none of the reviews mention how horribly overpriced it is

I think it's a new thing, I have bought Monkey Shoulder from Takealot before at normal prices.

They probably found some way of linking reviews of the "normally priced" one to the third party one.
Because no one is crazy enough to pay that and not complain.

More examples.

Lagavulin 16yo for R2049

Ardbeg 10yo for R1129

Glenmorangie 10yo for R869

:X3:

Ya as the one review there still says best bang for buck

Opened up a bottle of Classic Laddie to see what the fuss was about. At first it was quite confusing for my tongue to get that typical Islay flavour profile with no peat whacking you but I must admit that I really, really enjoyed it.

I joined the Bruichladdich group on Facebook and am overwhelmed by all the choice (and independent bottlings). The Octomore is an obvious pickup, and I'm eyeing the Yellow Submarine release (if just for the bottle).

What's next, if I want to explore the house?

Organic, Islay Barley, Port Charlotte Islay Barley. I don't tend to get on with Bruichladdich. Islay Barley is very nice though. Organic style releases are ... odd.

I'd also give Bunnahabhain 12 a go if you're not 'used to unpeated Islay'. There's also a few unpeated Caol Ila releases around which I didn't really think much of the 15.

That Yellow Submarine is a unicorn. I would love a bottle just for the collection, but alas, you will pay big money for it.
