Who hasn't jailbroken their iPad 1 or 2

My brother has one, and he hasnt jail broken it. In fact it hasn't even been upgraded to the lates os. iPad is supposed to be very user friendly, but try updating the thing to the latest os and you will go insane. Had to first upgrade iTunes. Then when trying to update the os on the iPad, the downloads keep on timing out (tried about 5 or 6 times). I eventually download the update file (approx 700 Mb??), so that I can manually update later - that didnt work issue with the file. Download again, iTunes complains about something else. Eventually gave up.

Maybe jailbreaking will be easier.

Apple has sorted out the update issue with iOS 5
You can update without iTunes. Took me two clicks

I have but i dont really see the need for it..

I am currently using 1 app that i didnt pay for, that being audio note for varsity(very useful and cool)! Also installed the Pages, Numbers etc but i dont really use them.

The only thing ive found useful thus far is the fact that i can open as many tabs as i want in safari ;)

So you just transfer funds from say FNB into this online account.
Then pay on itunes, is whildtwig cheaper than buying direct off itunes store?

No, nothing is cheaper than the iTunes store (except for BestBuy sometimes apparently).
But it not not much more expensive

Yes, There was a thread sometime back, explaining this VCpay product: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/397557-12payonline-co-za-Virtual-credit-cards

You can't buy apps from the US store using an SA credit card (VCpay included).
So, if you want to use the SA app store, you can use VCpay for purchases.
If you want to shop @ the US store, you will need to use a voucher.

Also check bestbuy.com. email delivery sometimes takes an hour or two, but cheapest by far

Who hasn't jailbroken their iPad 1 or 2 . . . I did jailbrake it but soon after did a restore. The juice wasnt worth the squeeze for me.

It did for me but chances are I'm the exception, not the rule. :)

I jailbroke, but restored after a week or two.
Jailbreaking caused my battery to drain faster as well.
It also caused quite a bit of instability. I'm not sure about the reasons though

Can you buy from BestBuy with VcPay www.vcpay.co.za

No, BestBuy is one of the biggest shops in the USA. You will need a credit card (Or possibly paypal)
They will not accept SA wallet systems.

Rather than trying to save $1, just use wildtwig, or the other SA voucher sites mentioned

I didn't jailbreak my ipad 1 and 2. Buy apps via US Store and it downloads to both ipad's. Can also install them on my iphone without buying again, so effectively buy 1 app, install on 3 devices. Mainly games for the kids if anyone's asking. My 3 year old has the ipad 2, and drives it better than my wife.

:)

I don't jailbreak, I used to but don't really need to anymore. I also buy on the US iTunes store.

See this every now and then.... I just havent got round to restoring, plus i need to buy some itunes vouchers cuz there is one app that i use on a daily basis that i need!

Also thinking of scrapping my jailbreak on my iPad 2 and going legit.

Seems many people have not jailbroken their ipads.

Prices on wildtwig are not bad at all actually.

With apps like RemoveBackground and the ability to edit one's Launch Daemons the JB is a step towards better battery usage IMO...

This is what I consistently achieve on my JB 4s running 5.0.1....

I think there fewer advantages to JB the iPad in relation to the iPhone.

I primary reason for JB is the ability to customize and for the iPad good themes are few and far between. Of course there is still a plethora of tweaks and mods available, some are very handy.

The process of JB is a simple one and relatively risk free one so from that perspective I would recommend it. Of course when new software versions are released one has to weigh up the options of retaining JB and sacrificing the new software or biseversa. I choose to retain JB...

Some Dreamboard themes...

I use the kindle app often and have pdf magazines and books in there, If I remove the jailbreak can I still read my pdf stuff?

Also to go back to legit, do I just backup everything, reset all settings and apply the iOS5.1 update?
