It's R265 per year for the licence...Yeah, good idea...
10 year advance payment on each Television set.
Thus R265 X 12 = R3,180 a year = R31,800 once-off fee for every TV set you buy.
Will that work for you?
Very true. Only thing is you will need to know someone that has a TV license if you want to purchase a new TV.
There's absolutely no need to ever buy a TV these days. Those Smart Panels are awesome. You will never use the TV tuner anyway.
IT distributors sell TV's without any licensing requirements...Where do you actually get those things?
I think the only time I ever saw one somewhere on the forum it was some kind of Mecer thing.
How much you reckon it should be?Why not just have a once off price that is attached to a new TV? The current model sure ain't working.

I'm thinking something like a fee for every inch. The older the model, the less you pay.How much you reckon it should be?
This part however has never been proven but keeps being repeated.A DStv decoder can be purchased without a TV licence, but to actually use the device, it is required that the owner has a TV licence. The same is true for a PC TV tuner card.
We know who needs one.

Gumtree

.Yeah, I know. But since it is a once-off payment for a 10-year period, R2650 will not make sense to the corrupted.
If it works for others. I would never buy a TV off Gumtree ever! My brother bought a second hand TV before and it worked for a week.
You win some you lose some
I prefer to know that I am spending my hard earned money on something that will last.I also prefer to have insurance with my household items. Was not keen to go and buy a 65" 4K TV off Gumtree
No a tv set requires a license. It's quite clear in the regulations. It's only in recent years that the SABC has come up with this unproven crap. What needs to be proven ... , ANY device which contains a tuner capable of receiving a TV signal requires a TV license.
