Who pays when their dog attacks?

Nice man, this thread has some good info.

If the insurance settled that easily, it must mean they perceive it as likely they would lose in court and thus decided against that course of action.

Which begs the question, why did everyone keep telling you how hard it would be for you to get anywhere with this?

I'd still lob some sun ripened eggs over her wall a few weeks down the line, just for good measure. I don't think there was any altruistic or good hearted motives behind the lady letting her insurance settle, it was just the convenient option when she realised her back was up against the wall.

But seriously, revenge is not satisfying, especially if she's not well in the first place.

Who knows about skunks... But the pic you were referring to was actually a Honey Badger (Ratel), with is an extremely tenacious little bugger!
I would love to own one, but near impossible to house them in cages/enclosures. They are real life escape artists, and can even burrow under walls and fences.
There's a reason the Sandock-Austral and SADF named one of their most popular IFV's after the Ratel.

What is really bad is that this is what it took for her to take you seriously. I mean, just take responsibility, FFS!

They probably offered you that token because they don't want you to sue her. If you went to court, she and her insurer would be on the hook for much more.

This is a personal liability claim which can be quite enormous especially if an important part of your body was damaged and you suffer loss of future income. You can also claim for your time off work and every other related expense. These can go into the millions of Rands if you lose say a few fingers.
