Why do people hate Blackberry Users?

I get email 24/7 from two accounts, but it's mostly text.....so does not even dent my 250MB bundle. On the iPhone you have the option to download only the header & not any attachments, so I quickly scan the message and download the full email on my pc.

In any case, how the hell are you gonna go through a Word, Excel, Powerpoint or PDF document on that small screen? I dont think so. :p

Because having unlimited on-device data usage is undeniably attractive to some. However I'll reiterate my opinion - unless it is particularly attractive/necessary to you, you'll do better with just about any other decent phone.

It's legal above board to tether a BB. The speed is not so hot and file sizes are limited so a limiting factor is built-in.

Sure, but add to that live maps for navigation & your 250mb bundle might start taking a bit of strain... There are benefits but they just don't outweigh the hardware sucking so badly as far as I'm concerned. It's not for me, but I can understand that there is a market for them.

I think my Torch screen is very marginally smaller :/

Do you know what the make/break for me was? A keyboard.

You reckon you're quicker at typing on that than a BB?
You can type long messages, IMs and /SMSs with an issue?
 
I find it refreshing to see so many anti BB members prowling the BB forum.
 
It continues to amaze me that people feel the need to question and attack BlackBerry users when these questioners/attackers work on theory alone with zero experience in using BlackBerry. Why would I - the owner of an iPhone 4 - bother to use my BB Bold if it is so much inferior to my iPhone? Maybe there's more to BlackBerry than meets the uninitiated eye.

Never knew Microsoft was interested in buying RIM. Microsoft Blackberry. MicroRIM Blackberry. No, doesn't sound so lekker.

If feel for RIM & appreciate their cool marketing campaign in South Africa, but isn't it like those days when everyone in Joburg was driving around with a SAAB, just cos it was perceived to be a very posh car? Might be the same for RIM.
 
kingrob - you are aware that 4 years down the line iPhone sales figures are only now ahead of Blackberry?
A super awesome phone that can cure cancer - only beat RIM sales figures now?
I'm sure you're aware that iPhone hasn't caught up the market share either?

Doesn't logic say 'there must be more to a BB'?
One would think if RIM was truly outdated medicore phone and the iPhone was the best thing ever, the figures would have come far sooner ...

iPhones have pretty much been flawed - yet droids buy them anyway.

I remember when they launched the 1st and I thought 'wow - here;s a phone to have!' only to be shattered that a phone in 2007 lacked 3G.
The next fixed that - but multi tasking, MMS, copy/paste and all the other smartphone features weren't there. Left me thinking 'wtf?'
iPhone 3GS was pretty good - but lacked the keyboard I wanted (personal preference)
iPhone 4 seemed the best thing ever - until I read about signal issues, screen issues and Consumer Report Magazine didn't recommend one.

Though, I've heard if you hold them in a certain way, you get signal ...
 
I understand what you're saying Dolby, but I'm sitting here and can't help to feel like the author of that article ....who exactly will be RIM's market?

They used to be a favourite for corporates, but that's not a big enough market & corporates are starting to move away from RIM, cos their favorite forex trading app is only available on the iPhone.

So...then RIM must try and target the consumer market, where consumers want a multimedia phone with a great music player, video player, camera, lots of apps, fast phone with lotsa RAM.....and there you already have iOS, Android & Windows Phone 7 moving forward at a rapid pace. So then RIM will move into the mid/lower end of the market.

I don't think they're gonna make it, but competition is healthy & I hope they can keep on being a viable alternative to the big boys.
 
RIM/BlackBerry will survive and thrive. I actually believe a BB revival is coming.

SA is RIM's fastest growing market; it was mentioned at a BlackBerry seminar a few months ago.

A 3rd world/developing country is RIM's fastest growing market? Not the USA, not the UK, not China, not Japan...then RIM is in deep trouble.

Microsofts fastest growing market is India - are they in trouble too? :/
One of the largest Porsche markets is South Africa - are they in trouble?
Facebook growth in India is huge too.

Many products fastest growing markets are developing countries because of obvious reasons.

Kingrob, growing means expanding. BlackBerry cannot expand much in first world countries so it must look at the developing world, like SA. And don't underestimate the SA market. SA + Nigeria = huge business for cell networks and handset manufacturers.
 
BlackBerry is also doing very well in South America where the 8520 sells like crazy. RIM's BIS is exactly what the developing world wants and when handsets are easily affordable (like the 8520 and new 9300) RIM will continue to see growth and a healthy market share.

India one can understand, cos the population is more than 1 billion people.

But in South Africa, with 49 million people - and high unemployment levels.....I've got my doubts.
