Why does everyone overtake on the left?

If I am the fastest (legal speed) driver on the road, I am overtaking everyone else that is driving at less than the max speed limit.

Is there a law that states how close you have to be in order to qualify as overtaking?

If someone wants to pass you, you are obliged to move over. Irrespective of how fast you think you are going. Go read the damn Act instead of spewing forth crap.

Oh god, it's like a broken record player.

Fine, hog the right lane. Just don't bitch when I pull in front of you and slow down to half the speed that you were going.

Yes. You are.

Like it said. That keeps you within the speed limit.

I have a lot of time to get wherever I am going. I have no problem with that.

Just keep above 60, as that will be the minimum speed limit on highways. If you do not you will be breaking another law.

... you are not allowed to exceed the maximum speed limit.

and you are required to move over to the left if you are not in the process of overtaking

Both are the law,you defy one and follow another, effectively making you just as bad as the "criminals" you try to hamper

uFiS
You are breaking to the law to attempt to prevent others from doing so,get off your high horse. As wrong as speeders are you are just as wrong for not following the law requiring you to move left

It's simple

Tell that to the thousands of people stuck in traffic jams because of knobs like you holding everything up 20 km down the line.

Wish there was an RBP for stupid

Anyhoo, stop feeding the troll, rather copy paste the above troll in your replies. It's not off-topic so perfectly allowable and much simpler than repetitively trying to drive sense into this guy

It's simple
Yes. Do not speed. If you do not, I will not be in your way - not because I will then feel like I want to let you through but because you will never gain on me. We will be doing the same speed.

Does keeping to the speed limit have a higher priority, than say skipping a red light?
I keep to the speed limit and I do not skip red lights.

Tell that to the thousands of people stuck in traffic jams because of knobs like you holding everything up 20 km down the line.
You lack proper knowledge of road events. And logic.

If I keep at the max speed limit I can not hold up traffic.

People that speed however can. Here is how.
People that speed are very likely to not keep following distances. They are too much in a rush and feel that by getting closer they will intimidate the guy in front to move over. By not keeping a safe following distance you have to break faster and harder when the guy in front has to break. This has a domino effect to all the cars behind that is also not keeping a safe distance. Eventually this will cause one car to have to come to a complete stop. And then everyone behind to come to a complete stop. With proper following distances, this will not happen. When people do not speed, they are more likely to keep proper distances.

Now you ask, why did the original guy have to break. Well, because some other speeder cutting through traffic cut in front of him and he was forced to slow down to create a safe following distance behind the guy that just cut in.

But please, explain to me how I, when driving at 120km/h in the right hand lane, cause traffic jams? This I would love to hear. If you can tell me this, I would sell my car and drive again.

I'll try to type this slowly so perhaps you can follow: People speed. Your sanctimonious dick-waving will not stop people from speeding. Through your childish inability to recognise a simple directive that aids traffic flow regardless of speed, you are causing a knock-on effect, bunching up traffic further back. You've just caused a traffic jam, whilst driving at 120km/h in the right-hand lane. Hand over your keys.

You have not explained anything. You pose some theory.

If I drive 120 then everyone behind me can drive 120. What part about that is a traffic jam?

Read my post again on people that speed and hard breaking.

If you do not break the law by speeding, you will never come into contact with me. It is not about breaking the law to prevent other from breaking the law.

You assume you are driving 120. You are likely not to, just move over.

Your post is irrelevant. Unless you succeed in turning every other road user into an equally sanctimonious dick-waver, your conduct will have a knock-on effect. Some people drive faster than the limit, others slower. As stated earlier, you yourself will constantly yo-yo between under and over even if trying to maintain a constant 120km/h. Hand over your keys.

Enigma,Junky and the rest, seriously, stop feeding this thread

Regardless of EVERYTHING else stated

uFiS is breaking the law to try to prevent others speeding. Black on white,he's breaking the law to stop others doing it,no need to defend your statements. Reply with the trollface till he acknowledges he's wrong

You have yet to show any indication of how. You also have not shown why my post is irrelevant.

You do not even know what car I drive. Or what equipment I have in the car. Yet you claim that I do not know my actual speed nor can I keep a constant speed.

All your statements are based on vague assumptions and baseless theories.

You are breaking the law to prevent others doing so,you are therefor irrelevant

So in conclusion if you are telling to rather stay home and die and not cause you the inconvenience of complying with the law you can you @!#$%@# yourself you self righteous piece of #@@#%@

Was going to say the same but restrained myself. No use arguing with an arrogant prick.
