Yes. Do not speed. If you do not, I will not be in your way - not because I will then feel like I want to let you through but because you will never gain on me. We will be doing the same speed.
Does keeping to the speed limit have a higher priority, than say skipping a red light?
I keep to the speed limit and I do not skip red lights.
Tell that to the thousands of people stuck in traffic jams because of knobs like you holding everything up 20 km down the line.
You lack proper knowledge of road events. And logic.
If I keep at the max speed limit I can not hold up traffic.
People that speed however can. Here is how.
People that speed are very likely to not keep following distances. They are too much in a rush and feel that by getting closer they will intimidate the guy in front to move over. By not keeping a safe following distance you have to break faster and harder when the guy in front has to break. This has a domino effect to all the cars behind that is also not keeping a safe distance. Eventually this will cause one car to have to come to a complete stop. And then everyone behind to come to a complete stop. With proper following distances, this will not happen. When people do not speed, they are more likely to keep proper distances.
Now you ask, why did the original guy have to break. Well, because some other speeder cutting through traffic cut in front of him and he was forced to slow down to create a safe following distance behind the guy that just cut in.
But please, explain to me how I, when driving at 120km/h in the right hand lane, cause traffic jams? This I would love to hear. If you can tell me this, I would sell my car and drive again.
