Why does MTN require a 128k LTE SIM for 4G?

I'm just intrigued by why MTN requires a sim swop to 128K LTE sim in order to access 4G but the old 64K sim on Vodacom works perfectly requiring no sim swops. Is this jus MTN trying to score extra revenue or really a technical requirement. It doesn't make much sense.

Yes the 128k sim could indeed be a requirement. MTN has been slow to migrate to the "USIM" card from the standard "SIM" card. This USIM implements new cryptographic algorithms (Milenage and kausami) that allow for secure access to 3G networks like LTE.
