I've never had to sign into anything and it went to the stand main menu - now nothing works?
Just goes to this and can't get passed - do I need to sign in?
Was there an upgrade overnight?

ATV3 - non JB ... less than a month old.

From power on, that's the screen I get now. 'Computers' tells me to enter an Apple ID and settings in, well, settings. Except when I go into Settings > Main Menu ... it's blank!

Only thing I had done since buying is putting in a different DNS that I got from Unotelly

Try changing dns back to what it was

Yup mine did this whole weekend. Reboot the router and then the atv. That worked for me. Oh and the dns

I had the same thing with mine, an ATV2 non JB. I'm finding DNS's from Unotelly (Cape Town & Joburg not working) are somehow being blocked if that's even possible? Bottom line is the ATV isn't connecting to Apple servers. I couldn't even open apple.com page on the laptop on CT DNS and nothing at all on JHB DNS. Changed the DNS again and it was working fine. Main Menu was also blank but sorted it's self out after a restart.

Can anyone who's in the know tell us whats up with the DNS's all of a sudden not working?!

This occurs when you either have no internet connection or you have a problem connecting to Apple servers.

The home sharing / computers icon appears like this when there's no connection established to an iTunes homesharing "server"; either it's not started or the TCP/UDP ports are blocked, and sometimes iTunes just plays up, needing a restart of the app to fix this.

Thanks - reset works ... but then I can't access Netflix :/

There's a problem with MTN(Afrihost and Axxess) resolving the Unotelly SA addresses. They are working on the issue. In the mean use NON-SA unotelly IPs(like Ireland or Germany).
