Why does no one talk about the Windows Registry?

What does he do with his old account? That at least determines that it's that particular profile but it doesn't solve the problem.

Move the old plist files out of the way? I can think of a few more things to do to isolate the problem, all platform independent. You still haven't told me how you would have fixed it on Windows.
 
Google it? :D You're a lot more likely to find a solution for a problem on the MS platform than Apple/linux.

No one here said Mac users don't run into problems. They just have way less that Windows users :)

Read an article online a little while back (can't remember where though) where they did a study/survey and worked out that the average PC user did about 55 hours troubleshooting a year whereas a Mac user only did about 5 hours :D

Yep, if Windows was run on a restricted common platform it would probably have a lot less problems too. But then again, if you look at the market share, its probably that same platform that has restricted Apple from being as popular as Microsoft.

Plists are just property or preference files, when you delete one the OS should revert to defaults and create a new one.
 
You delete the plist file and the next time the application open it creates it from scratch.
 
So is there one giant plist file that contains the OS's configuraiton details? I find it amazing that this file can be deleted and regenerated without any real repercussions

I would have looked for duplicates, probably synced from a Blackberry right? Blackberry software for the Mac sucks.

It's only 90 % popular because it is jammed into pretty much most computers that are sold in stores. And most average users are too technophobic to try and remove windoze and replace it with Ubuntu, Unix OSX or whatever. So, they just stick with windioze

Your obnoxious response reveals all. FYI I do NOT own or operate Linux, Unix or Ubuntu, and I never have. I was merely telling you that the reason Microsoft enjoys 90 % market share, is because they have pushed their OS into all the PC'S that are sold in stores. My hardware of choice is actually Apple and Mac OSX software. rsole.

....that we're still paying 4 times the regular price for the same hardware, still can't play the latest games, still can't pop in a blu-ray to watch a high-def movie, still use Microsoft Office for Mac, still believe that we can buy coolness when buying a piece of hard plastic/aluminium/diamonds/whatever floats your boat with a hard drive and CPU in it.

But Apple was VERY clever with their marketing campaign....they coined the phrase "It just works". Well, obviously it doesn't, if I look at all the YouTube videos about Apple fainbois crying in disbelief that it "it just stopped working". The rest still gets brainwashed every day. :)
 
Oh, and any of your Mac boitjies still running Internet Explorer on your Macs?

I believe it was the default internet browser for Macs at one stage? ;)
