Why DStv's single-device streaming limit is terrible

These cost comparisons are only pertinent when the stream actually works. It feels like DStv's streaming gives false multiple streaming lockouts half the time. Watch on one device, stop and switch to a new one... sorry, you are cheating. Clear cache.... close browser window.... Oh, never mind ... Switch to Youtube.

But I'm sure somewhere somehow how DSTV did this is unconstitutional.
When they introduced the streaming, I got rid of all the decoders and ran everything through the Apple TV - one less remote. Then they all of a sudden, BOOOM only 1 stream now

It's not even one stream. If I try to cast from my phone to a chromecast and for whatever reason it doesn't work (usually because the app is super dodge), if I try again I have to wait 5 mins. The concurrent streams check still picks up the failed cast. Would have been great if they only implemented this stupid limit if the software actually worked.

It's really ridiculous, the whole point of streaming is to watch away from home, when they introduced it, it was awesome especially for sport and long trips with the kids, but now it's just sad

Why DStv's single-device streaming limit is terrible
DStv's one-device streaming is particularly bad compared to the simultaneous stream restrictions of rival video streaming services, a comparison by MyBroadband shows.
One also has the delight that when load shedding commences and your system switches over to inverter it registers that you're still streaming on the TV and won't let you watch on the same device (the same TV). This glitch made me lose the Boks' time on the pitch

The compounded problem...

- Older Hisense (and other) "smart" TV's on which the DSTV App no longer works, as they are "discontinued" ...

- Having a primary and secondary decoder for "extra view", effectively means I'm paying for 2 "streams"? Now factor in load shedding and the -disability- of only 1 "stream" being available ...
At least we can watch netflix while we miss out on the main reason for dstv - Sport, so its time that supersport licensing be declared unconstitutional, anti-competitive... and unbundled from dstv
.

DSTV should be deserted by subscribers and force their closure. They are an arrogant, profiteering monopolistic racket. With them off the scene we can have more choice and competition especially in sports broadcasting.

Before streaming they at least had the Drifta - it wasn't great but it worked when you were out and wanted to follow a game - now there's just fokkol that works

If you want to stream on another device, remove all devices from the registered devices list. Ignore the removal limitation.

That's the advice support gave me.
But since the limitation was also enforced on Kodi, I downgraded to Family since I can't watch different sport channels together.
