DStv's streaming limit not helping to boost subscriptions

Anything DSTV tests takes a long time, then they roll out a different idea, and the original idea is canned or put on the back-burner, loses a few hundred thousand subscribers, rinse repeat.

Please do an article on how many years it will take for DSTV subscribers to go zero. You know how we enjoy these.

That streaming limit thing was aimed at pirates but instead punished the paying customers. There would be only one outcome after that.
They should humble themselves and give us back our 4 streams

Then there might be hope of saving DSTV - let them hold theif current course, and watch them crash and burn.

Aimed at Pirates, there is no bigger Bull Shyte story, than that.

If you have normal DSTV through the dish, do you still have one stream available?

One stream, on a TV, and another on a mobile device.

Excuse my doffness, so this is additional to watching on your tv through the dish and decoder? So decoder, stream and mobile can be all at the same time?

hmmmmm

Satellite is not stream, Decoder I think can probably stream and is not counted so devices would be "non-dstv" hardware.

But the whole devices thing is for users to use without being in front of a central device I suppose.

Still a very stupid move.

But, there are things like VPN's, and remote sharing software, so back to square one.
Yeah - but most people have no idea how to set that up. MyBB is a special place where people even know the word "VPN".

We are probably a bit more clued up than many.

Other thing is there are not many who are prepared to sacrifice there upstream bandwidth so that Piet, Koos, and Jan can get cheap DSTV.

I replaced the decoder with TV bones (As they advertised when they were introducing the 4 streams). No more ugly cables and trunking.
Then they back tracked on the streams- that pissed a lot of people off. Especially since it wasn’t any random devices that you could use- you had to choose and register 4, and if you wanted to replace one, you could only do that every 3 months or so.

DStv Now, now called DStv Stream, only ever had 2 simultaneously streamed streams possible from inception - and then it was dumbed down to only 1 stream.

Devices to keep registered for the allocated streams have always been 4 current.

DStv's big streaming limit fail

The continued decline of DStv Premium customers over the past two years suggests the broadcaster's decision to slash its simultaneous streaming limit to one device did not help boost subscriptions.

In fact, there are indications that the move potentially accelerated annual Premium subscriber drops.

Multiple streams allows more people to pool to get the full package.

Without it, the full package is very expensive for most people.
MultiChoice seem to have a glass half empty philosophy. Even with the possible alternative packages, all they envision are the downgrades.
