Why i wouldn't vote DA

I guess it's fair to ask why the man on the street will vote for the ANC then? Unlike the DA who only, according to some in this thread, stuffed up their campaign with fingerpointing, the ANC stuffed up their campaign by [short of] fscking up a whole country.
The man on the street is still living on a crap home in a township, struggling to find work because of poor state schooling and development.
The man on the street still experiences poor municipal and governmental service delivery.
The man on the street lives in fear of getting hurt since the state hospitals are in shambles.
The man on the street couldn't see where he went for a period in 2008 because of power cuts.

Considering those few items, I think the DA did a stellar job with its "stop the ANC/ZUMA/Cronie-ism" campaign.

Yes i am speaking for the ignorant ill-informed voter who hasn't read their website or attended a rally. I do so because i have listened to the radio, heard their don't vote zuma campaign and was still left ill-informed. Lucky for me i have internet and have looked at their website as well as others. Most people wont and will rely on mass media. That's fact! Whether you wish to admit it or not.

For elections they count only the people that voted and those that didn't vote get excluded from the elections. As if you do not exists. There is no such thing as a "non-vote". By not voting, you're a nobody.

A simple example is that if only 50% of the country votes and of those 66% voted for the Party1 and the other 33% for other parties, then the Party1 will get 2/3 majority. However, if the 50% who did not vote because "it doesn't matter", voted for the other parties it would increase the other parties' margin and effectively decrease Party1 to a mere 33%. Even though they won the election, they will not have as much power. And I think we all agree that any party having a large majority, is a BAD thing for democracy.

This is an extreme example, but majority of people not voting are usually those with the mind set of "it doesn't matter", when in fact every vote does count.

If you don't vote, you're just another statistic in a newspaper showing that you don't give a f#%^ about this country.

I prefer get my information from media sources that I trust, where the information has been filtered and contested by someone. You're welcome to do your own research in whatever way suits you. Yet the ANC still campaign that they will improve their lives. You and i know this wont be the case but this is what the ANC voter wants. They want a glimmer of hope that things will be better. I don't hear Zuma saying "DON'T VOTE FOR THE WHITE WOMAN" Why do you think that is?

I have to agree here, if people do not vote at all, then all you have at the voting booth is Julius Malema's little gremlin's chanting zuma's name.

I personally do not like the DA either, because they just complain, complain, complain. Helen Ziller thinks she and her crew are SA's Justice League saving us from the criminal "mastermind" Zuma,

You can always vote Hope and Vote COPE, or vote the ACDP, who are moral christian folk(I like them, even though I am not Christian), or even the ID, Patricia is untidy but she is not too bad. There are plenty of options besides the DA and ANC

As someone that has had to expereince the ugly side of Apartheid, I ask everyone to remember the people that died, so that everyone could have a right to vote.

Not voting means you letting corruption win, because you are choosing to denounce your RIGHT TO HAVE A SAY!

I like the Ad on tv this morning where ill gives you the stats about the WC since the DA took over.

Because if you are a black person living in Rural SA, you are afraid that if you dont vote the ANC, then aparatheid will come back. The uneducated are ruled by fear

That's why I feel over the next five years the opposition parties have a job to educate voters across the spectrum in preparation for 2014.

I never said ANC's campaign was a winner. But at least they have the common sense to make it about ANC and not DA.
 
I just have to say that I'm dumbstruck at the many ill informed people in this thread. The few who've actually bothered to try understand politics are arguing with a bunch of kiddos thinking they they know everything.
