Why should I vote the DA?

We now have doctors, CAs, engineers, IT people, ..... where before we only had nurses, teachers, security guards (not that there is any thing wrong doing that). The people can now realize their dreams, like building their ?

The country could have had much much more.. cheaper taxes/eletricity/water .. stronger economy (investor friendly).

If you don't give the DA a chance.. you would only know 1 devil...

To be honest, if you don't already know why you should be voting for the DA, then there is not much we can say to convince you.
It sounds like the ANC has done a lot for your community, as I am sure they have in a lot of places.
The real question you should be asking yourself is, "how much more could the ANC have accomplished for ALL South Africans?"
And "Is there another party that could have done more?"
You will find the answer when you take a look at how things are being run in the Western Cape compared to the rest of SA.

They don't mind Zooma helping themselves with tax payers money... screwing the poor out of houses etc. As long as they dont' vote for the whiteys.. they'll be happy...
 
To the OP:

I understand you are impressed by the small token the ANC has delivered. And yes, they have managed some good. Unfortunately they have long since forgotten these values for which they stood, and are using those few good things to walk you like a dog. They keep you on a short leash, reminding you everyday of what you didn't have, and now do. The sad reality of today is the ANC is lost. Lost in a web of "scratch my back, scratch your back", mudslinging, intimidation and complete failure of some municipalities.

Yes, the African nation in South Africa have not seen "white" people deliver the basic needs you talk of. But in all fairness, we too are interested in the betterment of all South Africans, we have not had the opportunity to prove this though. If the DA which is what I believe to be a truly non racial true African (All of us, white black etc) party had the opportunity to take power of the South African Government. You would then see what good we could all accomplish.

And don't think for one second that I would not stand and vote against the DA if they tried to pull one piece of corruption tripe that we see daily with the ANC.

I see many here who support the ANC are to their approval upon delivering services to the poor, like running water etc. I will say that this would have happened in any case, apartheid is over and only idiots will go back to that Idiocracy…

Many complain that the DA Cabinet is too white, but it is nearly 50/50 (white vs. others). Many who are active in the DA even fought apartheid and supports the community. I know of certain promises made by both the ANC and DA which failed… especially in the Northern Cape.

In my personal opinion, I’m not 100% DA, but who is? There are many things we as people want, which is not necessarily their objective at this time. The ANC is a bunch of corrupted individuals, oppressing the poor, lying and only care for the elite few. Where is all that running water etc. now? School books? And many other needs essential to develop South Africans!

I vote DA and want them to be the Governing body of South Africa. My concern is that education, defence and infrastructure (especially Transnet) should be attended to as high priority amongst other objectives for whoever wins the next election. I would also appreciate to have Municipal forums where members can attend to question and contribute to local community developments and spending. Transformation should be re-evaluated and job creation (with skills training, development and advancement) should be another priority and program for all South Africans. I want Democracy that is it.

The Government must be servants of the people.

Exactly.. you won't be paying e-tolls too right? But your food (pap, walkie talkies) will get expensive with e-tolls. So keep on voting for the Anc.. But o yes.. you Won't be paying e-tolls directly (like anc promised)... keep on believing them ANC comrades...

It's people like you that love to have nothing.. and want to keep living like that. No need to improve. Quite surprised you actually use the internet....
 
As expected, I'm getting different responses. Some objective, some dismissive/defensive, and all - at least that's how they seem to me.
 
Picture this- a small village in Limpopo, that has one cafe. It's the only shop, so they can charge what they like. Bread sells for R20 a loaf. Because it's close, people end up going there and paying the ridiculous prices because its that, or shlep to the city which will cost more in taxi fairs anyway. Now a zimbabwean comes in and opens a shop, selling bread at R10 a loaf instead. Its called competition, and when people start going to his shop instead, the first is going to be forced to drop his prices in order to stay competitive. So he then comes up with a special- load of bread and a litre of milk for R13. Suddenly the villagers are spoiled for choice.
That's the nature of competition, and why it is so important. Vote DA, or Vote IFP or COPE, it doesn't matter, just so long as you don't give one party a majority.
What's happening at the moment is that the ANC is like that first shop, knowing they can do whatever they want, and people will still support them. what we need now is some serious competition, if for nothing else than to shake them up a little and force them to do even better. Which brings me to my next point:

Don't look at where you are, look at where you could be. Yes the ANC has done a **** load, but they have probably done a fraction of what they could be doing, because of the corruption, wasteful expenditure and siphoning of funds. You say in 20 years things could be different, but why wait 20 years for something that could happen in 5?

Nobody will ever convince you to vote for other party. If you can't see the ANC's corruption and think .. Screw them that is my tax money.. nothing will change your mind...
 
What I don’t understand OP is do you think the ANC are the only party that could have done all that - just because that NATS provided substandard service doesn’t mean the ANC are the only capable party? I’m sure many other political parties could have done a much better job with the same resources and time - wouldn't you agree?

I'm sorry I don't agree. With 120+ parties out there, you dilute the voting public and keep the ANC in the "majority" seat. People should either vote ANC or DA since the DA is the strongest of the opposition at this stage who has a real chance to topple the ANC and get a chance at running the country (not into the ground like the ANC)

True, there are some good ANC candidates who loves their job and does it diligently, but most of the top brass with fingers in pies don't care and make sure to make everyone else's life just more and more difficult.

I agree, and having said that, could do the entire project in 2/10ths of the budget they had
