Why Ubuntu?

No that's because the missing 125mb is used for your virtual video memory. 32bit can see up to 3.5gb ;)

No Prob. Can you please tell me what the code/name is for mint? Can't seem to find it on the local mirrors.. Thanks.

Haha, simply amazing!! Thanks ocleroux. Just booted from the cd and looks so cool. But I have no idea what everything is. :D I guess I need to play around a bit. At least it looks beautiful :whistle:

Ubuntu/Kubuntu are local downloads. Updates are all local, except some security updates. This is what made me decide on Kubuntu.

The problem is that if I run 32bit my OS can only see 3.5gb RAM. So I think RAM is the most obvious reason for someone to run a 64bit OS rather that 32bit.

Actually you install the Ubuntu server kernal as it will pick up more than 4GB (32bit still). Do it with my work desktop.

@Izak

Perhaps you should install using VirtualBox under windows. That way you can try out different distros without having to partition your drive. You can also run Virtualbox under Ubuntu. I have a WindowsXP client running and it helps when I need to run certain Windows apps.

There are issues with Adobe Flash (youtube and all) in x64, that's why I have reverted to 32-bit, sees only 2.9GB of my 4GB of RAM; but hell, it flies.
