Widest network fight: Vodacom vs Cell C

Well lets exclude the wifi coverage.

Does vodacom roam on any other local networks?

If Cell C has their own towers AND uses vodacom's network for roaming - technically if you have a Cell C sim you should have better coverage than vodacom :p

Vodacom is arguing that it is the fattest?

lol

“By allowing for Wi-Fi calling, we have effectively turned every Wi-Fi hotspot across the globe into a Cell C tower, allowing customers to make and receive calls, and send and receive SMSes,” said Cell C.

whut? how? black magic? and does this mean that I can go to faraway Pondarstan and connect via CellC without hassles?

I wish Vodacom could stop worrying about nonsense like this and rather use their energy to improve their customer care...

Although I will usually take Cell C side, in this case, no.
There is about 3 phones that can be wifi calling enabled, so they have 7 subscribers on wifi calling. :(

Technically they are right, but it is a fat ad, it can be understood improperly and is not appropriate for a roaming partner.

You ever experienced CellC roaming on vodacom in the boondocks?

Horrible if you're not lucky.

When I went away for the Easter weekend there was 0 Cell C coverage...was roaming on Vodacom and used their 3G extensively. No issues. Guess I was lucky then? :p also used it along the national roads since Cell C never bothered to put towers up for the business peeps that travel constantly.

Good coverage and speed probably depends on a lot of factors.

You will get good speeds etc if you're lucky.

Wonder what CellC roaming is like on the N1 North after Kranskop... will need to visit that part of the world in the near future.

Cell C roaming used to be 2g in the past which was horrible. They have since upped it to 3g (still not 4g) so you should have a much better experience with Cell C roaming than in the past.

Widest network fight: Vodacom vs Cell C

A Cell C billboard claiming it has the widest network coverage did not sit well with Vodacom, which lodged a complaint with the ASA.

All I know where I stay in Gansbaai De Kelders ,the most off the time I dont have any network from Cell C and voice line is also very bad ,My iphone keeps on jumping from Cell C to Vodacom

How does this WiFi works ,what is the Name and how to you connect to it ,as every WiFi has its own password ,and do you need a special phone for it?

You can use any WiFi network to make calls.
If you are on a public hotspot, or at home, then a secure tunnel is set up before calling.
If you are on a wifi hotspot, trusted by the operator, then it connects directly.
Here is an image showing the different connectivity methods:
