So, if I put these numbers into the online caculators, it says I can get just over 400kbs if im lucky, but if I input the upload speed, it says i can sync at 2 meg?

Please can someone help me understand how this works, and why my US attenuations is so low vs the DS?

Us Rate (Kbps) 128
Ds Rate (Kbps) 384
US Margin 30
DS Margin 10
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 59
US Line Attenuation 21
Peak Cell Rate 301 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 0
CRC Tx Fast 1
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 0
Path Mode Fast Path

DSL Statistics
Near End F4 Loop Back Count 0
Near End F5 Loop Back Count 0

Thanks, thats an interesting read.

Why would my US Line Attenuation be so good?

So bad you mean... high attenuation is bad.
Maybe your physical line, but that would affect your up and downstream attenuation, but check it out as an option perhaps

US Line Attenuation 21, thats low, and good?
DS Line Attenuation 59, thats high, and bad?

This is why im asking, why such a large diff between the two?

Correct. Your up is good, down, terrible.

Its strange though, because you would expect both to be bad or both good.
Not too sure what the problem could be to be honest, besides the actual line

I to think it is the line. I assume the good US will be my glimmer of hope that will keep me on hold while listening to Telkom's on-hold music...

Any other ideas?

Far I belive, but not to sure... Going to have to track that down, but I dont belive the news will be good.

Recently we had major issues just getting the line to sync, I presume becuse of the bad DS. But with a good US... Odd..

Perhaps i must wait till they upgrade us 384users to 512 before I start waisting my time.

Thanks anyway

Even if they do bump us up, at this rate, unfortunately for you I dont think you will be syncing at 512. If you were struggling at 384, 512 is pretty hopeless. I still find it odd though that your upstream att. is so low compared to your down. But phone em up and see what they say

To give you an idea, my US line Attenuation is 4.5db and my DS is 3db

Anyone know what line speed Ill be capable of?

Parameters
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 37.0 dB 23 dB
Line Attenuation 12.5 dB 6.5 dB
CRC Errors 0 0
Latency Fast Fast

That is incredible! Do you squat outside the exchange???

4MBps easily

Dont know about those speeds, but I wouldnt worry about that. We wont be seeing those kinda speeds for at least the next 10 years

But can you tell me if you compare upload and download separately?
