Will this fan setup work?

No. I've worked on many PCs and they all blow away (suck) from the heatsink. Even my old P1 in the garage is the same.

You never want to blow on a heatsink - dust collects and its the devil. I've seen CPUs burn becuase there heatsinks where clogged up with dust.

well mine blows down - into the heatsink

In all my years, I've never seen a fan sucking air from a CPU heatsink - from 286 mods to the latest chips, I've only ever seen the CPU fan blown on the CPU heatsink.

Did you check that by removing them from the case or are you testing it by putting your hand inside the case? If there's a filter on the front of it then it might be clogged. My old ones were clogged bad enough for the filter to deform as if it was being sucked in by the fan.

I cant remove the front one as it is covered by HDD racks.

CPU fans blow. Always. (But I can't exclude badly made oriental coolers that just don't know which way to attach the fan.)

De-dusting: After years of fiddling around with canned pressure dusters I eventully invested in a power blower for a coupla hundred bucks - got a Bosch from Makro.

vaclume cleaner works just aswell, and you don't have to clean up the dust afterwards

I think the reason you're working on many PCs is now quite obvious. :D

How did you confirm this? By just looking at the shape of the blades? You also realize that to get it to what you say you will need to mount the fan upside down.

Unless of course you're just having a laugh :D

For your setup to work, you would need to switch the fans around. You would also need to put some kind of divider or barrier in between the fans for this to work. Otherwise it will be a moot setup.

I had a post about positive and negative air pressure setups a while back, and their pro's and con's. But I can't seem to find it.

Basically you want a positive air pressure inside your PC, otherwise if it's negative (by having more exhaust than intake) the lack of air will come through all the gaps in your case which will increase dust count inside your PC.

Ideally positive air pressure + fan filters for all your intake fans = win. Positive air pressure being more intake than exhaust.

I agree with that. The one issue I've had to date is that once those fan filters are over the intake fans their airflow just goes down. How will you ever know whether you are having positive or negative air pressure?

Simple.

Take a lighter or smoke machine or incense, and put it near one of the ventilation holes.

If it's blowing away from the case, you have a positive pressure, if it's being sucked into the case, you have a negative pressure.

Also you would need to clean your filters once a month. And if you don't have filters, use your moms old stockings. They work just as well ;)

Ok Now I'm confused, I've got 3 options

2 fans at the back:

1) Both Blowing out

or

2) Both Blowing In

or

3) Revers of what I showed in the picture
(Top fan blowing out, bottom fan blowing in)

So what should I do?

From what I understand, most cases are designed to intake from the front and bottom, and exhaust from the back and top.

In your case, the only way you'll know is by testing either setup. It might take some time and effort, but it will be worth it in the end :)
