Will you ever buy Seagate again?

I am a western digital fan but mid last year i bought myself my first seagate drive, a 500gb one that had the bad firmware, i updated the firmware and swore to myself never to test the waters again.
 
I've had my internal Western Digital crash on me last month.
Replaced it with a Seagate.

Also have 2 external Seagate freeagent drives.
 
I've always had Seagate drives and thankfully, never had a single one die on me.
I really don't trust Samsung so I guess I'll probably take my chances with Seagate

Have to agree on that, Samsung optical drives have only given me misery over the years. Slow performance, bad disks, the list goes on. LG is better but Asus is even better.

As for hard drives, I will gladly buy Seagate again, I've only had one hard drive develop the click of death, and that was due to the drive standing still for 3 years without being used. Used it in every build in my old job and it couldn't have worked better.
 
HITACHI! I have a Toshiba in my ToughBook and a Hitachi in my Acer and both work da bomb. Most of my HDs however are Seagates and they haven't failed me yet, although I've had a WD and a Maxtor die on me.

Sony is good too.
I have an old IDE that'll read some of the most scratched discs I've ever seen
 
It is funny how some manufacturers get some things right and others seriously wrong - Like Samsung make amazing monitors, decent HD’s, but really lousy optical drives. Sony for me are winners all round. They are very consistent in all the products they manufacture. Not a single Sony item I own from TV’s to video cameras has ever failed on me. Maybe I have just been lucky but I for one find Sony very good quality, not the cheapest but good quality.
 
never again, bought a 500gb external, one month later click clickclick, what was it you wre after click, lost all data, never again
 
I've lost 7 drives in my life. 4 of them were Seagates, and of those 4 all 4 of them were my fault (don't ask.) The other 3 drives were lost due to "natural causes" - 2 of them were Maxtor the other Hitachi.
I assume the firmware problem this thread is talking about is the 30 second lag / delay identified on the 1TB and 1.5TB drives?
