If the tiny house has a big yard - yes
If the "tiny house" is a Cape Town micro apartment- no

Yeah, it looks so cool. The appeal is great, low maintenance, something “new” to live in, etc.

What they don’t mention is that the house will be worth close to zero in 10-15 years of use, and the property they’re on is almost always rented. It also tends to select for those people who consider putting money aside for a bond payment to be too restrictive for their lifestyle.

I know a few people in the US who have done this - most only stick it out for 2-5 years. They don’t really consider the reality of having a toilet right by where they eat and sleep - especially when they’re single, and then one day aren’t. :p Not to mention what happens if they have kids or need to work from home.
Yup, ive seen many YouTube vids afterwards where they give up their tiny homes after 3-5 years

You don't have to appreciate small spaces to appreciate that that is beautiful.
The wood is great... sadly something we don't have a lot of here... at least not at local prices.
For that price you could definitely do the same or more here with wood.

We have pine at affordable prices. Knotty pine used to be a thing for all trimmings and even ceilings.

Wooden houses are cheaper here. You get them for around R100k?

I'm not an expert, but I suspect one kitchen per house is sufficient.
You need at least 2 or 3.
One main kitchen, one for the entertainment area, and another in the guest section.
Another separate kitchen in the servants quarters.

I stayed on a WWII destroyer for a couple of weeks. Now THAT is tiny living. You have to get out of bed to turn over LMAO.
How come?
Also I lived in a 50sqm townhouse when I first moved out, that was tiny. Than for 7 years the wife, son and I lived in 80sqm for 3 people that is tiny. Now my lounge, kitchen and dining room is my entire old place. Part of me misses the smallness of it, easier to manage during loadshedding as you've only got like 2 rooms to really power. I mean if I wanted that place off the grid it would've been easy as pie, I only used 250 to 300 units a month, now I'm on 500 to 700 a month.
