Windows 10 (1809) Is out

Running the update service now. The update is under 3GB, closer to 2GB at 86% only now though.

This is a relatively small update, all went well this side.

It can be the first stable release since 1607.

A reason: the next LTSB corporate edition is scheduled early next year. The current one is 1607.

Okay, it installed the update in about 15 minutes (SSD 840 Evo, i7 4720HQ).

Things I've noticed:
The win+alt+s snipping pops up a lot faster, the four different ways of snipping is pretty nice.
Also the clip tray is really nicely integrated, the pop-up after snipping showing what's snipped is nice.
Here I used the bad freeform one, not sure why anyone would want it tbh:

I made no effort to do it nicely. :p

Another thing noticed that might be from earlier is above, you can make it so apps can't touch certain folders.
None of my privacy stuff has been reset.
Clip tray looks good.

Accessed by hitting win+v, first time it has an option to turn on.

Image is also in the notifications pane, you can click on it there and open the sketch app.

Going to add the phone app in a bit, tomorrow morning probably.

Btw, how many of you use dynamic lock?

Been contemplating enabling it for a while, since I always have my phone on me, but rarely due to I actually leave my device unlocked when leaving, win+l is ingrained on me on leaving my desk.

EDIT:
Ended up setting phone app now.
Tip: you need to get the your phone companion app, not the Microsoft Launcher. The launcher looks pretty slick though.
What's really annoying though is that I can't select my gmail account from a pop-up as that's tied to my microsoft account, so keep having to type everything in.

Looks pretty nice. definitely not mirroring though, and I rarely/never use SMS, so the only feature that might interest me is photos. Photos seems to only have a limited number of photos there, but at least it's the most recent ones, so should make transferring a bit easier. Not sure if it uses internet, think it's only over the network.
Guess ones only good option is still something like Samsung's sidesync: https://www.samsung.com/us/sidesync/

Interesting feature is power usage in task manager:

So you can find what's using your battery. Right tab populated after a minute, before I made the screenshot.

Yesterday 1809 popped up in Win Update on three systems, including a VM. Also downloaded the 32/64 ISO and manually updated other systems. Installed without issue and Dark Mode set all round. The only niggle is on the headless BriX i5 in the Facilities Room, which now as a super-slow UI, and it momentarily loses RDP connection when complex menus open. Will get round to debugging it one of these days. As with all Redstones, have had to reinstall Acronis Backup, which is understandable as Acronis does low-level controller access to image disks.

Purged around 20GB of Temp Files on each system before imaging the new installations.

Who the hell runs a companies Computers without WSUS? You like to live dangerously don't you? :D

installed on my work and home laptop. All good so far.
Love the dark mode for Explorer and the new Snip tool

had to enable ipv6 on the nic for some stuff to work again..

Why is it taking them forever to add tabs to Explorer, it was announced ~7 months ago.

Bet you MrStov3 un-ticked Keep my files when he installed :D

Any case: Said reports is the exact reason why I am running/testing it now. Will give it a while before I click OK on WSUS for the rest of the people to get it.

I haven't noticed any other funny business but the update ate my wallpaper and I can't remember where I got it.

Also had the wallpaper issue, some Fn keys have stopped working and got the IPv6 issue for MS apps but nothing more than that (for now)

Luckily I found one screenshot with my desktop showing so I did a reverse image search.

Anyone tried to add some of these features yet? Keep on getting Installed failed, for any of the features I try to install, not only the ones below (haven't looked into it yet, will google later)

Nevermind, this fixed it, I made the change on my local policy
Local computer policy (or, optionally, make the changes in Group Policy if appropriate). The setting in question is: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair
After changing it to "Enabled" and selecting the checkbox labeled "Download repair content and optional features directly from Windows Update instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)" it works fine

Edit: Just to add, the issue were on my work laptop joined to a domain ,and home pc that's not on a domain

I like the new phone App and integration with Android, now you don't have to look at your phone when receiving SMS's as well. Nice that it works over wifi. Can also send SMS's from pc but who still sends SMS's, unless it's "STOP" haha
