Windows 10: The Next Chapter

What is this? Are you showing us the new look Windows File Explorer?

Yeah, it's from build 9924. Apparently the next insider release will be build 9926.

I watch Windows Weekly with Leo Laporte, Paul Thurrott and Mary Jo Foley every week on TWiT. Probably the best Microsoft-observers in the journo/blog space, and no shills for MSFT (they were basically persona non grata at Redmond for the past 15 years, until very recently). Here's this week's podcast just after the Jan 21 Event in Redmond:

The TWiT.TV website is here. TwiT = This Week in Tech.

Its a MUUUUUCH better setup than the retarded ideas they were putting into the older Technical Preview builds...

I hate the Home location more than anything. It is pretty redundant, since I can pin folders that I frequently need anyway, or create shortcuts for them. Favourites doesn't work very well either - I have to add a folder or location into Favourites and then if I want to remove it from the list I can't do it from within Home, I need to navigate to the Favourites to remove it. Its just an extra movement and click required that can be taken out entirely. The Frequent Folders sub-group also doesn't have any options for forcing a refresh or removing it, because it is governed by registry files.

I love the Home location & convinced that Microsoft included it especially for me. :D

Don't know where I got it from, but I have this obsession to close stuff after I have worked with it, just to realise two minutes later that I need it again. Thank you, Home location.

I'm using an old Preview build, 9841, but it's still screaming fast on my Toshiba Core i3 with 4GB RAM. It will most probably be insanely fast on a Core i5 or i7.

How do I get Google as my default search provider in Internet Explorer? When I click on "Show me more providers", Google is not available.

I have the technical preview from October last year, want to give it a bash.

Can i just install and get the latests updates or do i need to download the latest iso?

There isn't a Preview build available at the moment.

Just use yours and then you can update later?

Mine is running on my Macbook Pro Retina i5, stupidly fast on SSD.

Mine is stupidly fast on a plain ol' Hitachi notebook drive.

Damn, cannot wait for Windows 10, as Windows 8/8.1 is by far the most disjointed Windows OS I have ever experienced.

Damn Zyzzyva!

I just installed the Tech Preview build 9841 on my desktop pc today.

Thank you, will download it after 12 tonight, when Telkom gives me freebie Nightsurfer Gigs.

I'll wait until it downloads through Windows Update. Using Cortana will be an interesting experience.

Just finished downloading it, thank you Telkom Mobile LTE!

Will install it tomorrow and make Cortana say "Sony PlayStation 4".

Goodnight!
