Windows 11 Support Thread

Just got 2H22 on the newer of my two thin clients

Performance between these two is noticeable under Windows 11. The older Excavator based G-series is sluggish compared to the Zen based R-series. Did not have that issue running Windows 10 on it.

Can 1 up that :P
Just installed 22h2 on:

Sluggish on base clock but fairly decent when overclocked to 2ghz

Running off M.2 in a Argon One Case (Fan Set to aways on as no fan control under WIndows.)
Running at a fairly decent 45C

Wow - and it has sound too! I remember when I installed Windows 10 on my RPi 4 8GB it had a few drivers missing.

Edit: Ok got BT to work now as well. no hope for Wifi
Edit2:

Can't even handle 720P on Windows, Linux has a smooth 1080 with only a few drops at the start.

On the HP t530 I have with the GX-215 it could not handle 1080p even with the x264ify extension installed allowing for hardware decoding.

I am thinking of selling my t530 since I got the t540, but I think I need to give Debian a try on it seeing as it easily installs on a USB drive.

Gave up my mission so just buying a refurbished i5 3rd gen Mini PC for R2K

Pi can go back into draw.

Successful 'bypass' installation on a 2 year old Dell that wouldn't auto upgrade due to the CPU not meeting the requirements.

Running pretty smoothly even though the laptop only has 8 GB RAM and a mechanical hard drive.

I used the bypass script available on GitHub

Why upgrade tho?

I was just curious tbh
Windows 11 has been available for a while now and seems to have stabilised. My primary desktop was able to upgrade via the "auto" route and I've gotten used to it, so I figured I might as well start upgrading some of the 'newer' machines in the household so that when it comes to maintenance I don't have to keep jumping between a W10 and W11 paradigm.

Anyone else noticed windows explorer getting slowed up after one of the updates a few weeks back?
Especially if the folder contains many images it’ll take more than a few seconds to load the thumbnails, even in dialog boxes like when uploading pics to the web it’ll glitch. And when you open your pinned favourites in Explorer it will properly glitch and freeze for a good while before the favourites expands, I think the pinned favourites list is called Home now for some reason.

My Dell above dates back to 2010 so 2 years is nothing :P

PS easy way to update any old system is to use Rufus.

Simply download ISO from Microsoft's website

Pop in a USB, make it bootable via Rufus that will give you the option to disable CPU & TPM check as well as ram limitations and such:

Pop the USB into the system you wanna update, run set-up to upgrade or simply boot from it if you want a fresh install.

I may get bored and upgrade my PC to 11 this christmas. Need to start getting more familiar with the OS.

Now have all systems on 11 2h22.

Reason I tried Windows on Pi and ended up buying a second-hand SFF computer mentioned above is cause I had an old Mecer S01+ that is stuck on Windows 10 and truly needs to retire. Had it since Windows 7 days.
