Windows 7 and 10 completely dominate

Meh there’s no alternatives that match MS so no surprise there

I tried Ubuntu, last weekend. There is a learning curve and I accept the challenge.
But for user-friendliness for non-technical users, nothing compares to Windows......

You probably have years of experience with windows so you're conditioned in a certain way.

Put the two in front of someone that has never used a computer before and I suspect they will disagree with your viewpoint.

Sheesh, I deal with a lot of windows users and the moans and groans when they were faced with Win 7 after XP pale in comparison compared to the shrieks that went up when they were presented with Win 10!

Fortunately we gave Vista and Win 8 a miss.

Windows 8, wow that was jarring.

The reason is unity. They're even giving up on it themselves.

They just don't like change.

XP is understandable but those still on Win8...

So with that in mind, anyone tried Windows 10's new gaming mode or something like that? Does it really improve gaming performance?

Install with a lot of clutter running in the background, yes. Fresh install no with a small possibility of decreasing performance slightly. (Just looking at reviews generally)

So an interesting thing happened today, this 4 year old child showed me a slideshow of her previous birthdays done on a Samsung S7.
If you come from any other OS or skin, you probably hate Samsung's TouchWiz thing but for a 4 year old to grasp it, it shows UI and UX isn't the issue, hidebound people are.

btw the father didn't know if he had the normal S7 or the Edge, but we figured out it was the one with straight screen:p

Ryzen is not supported on Windows 7, M$ is forcing people to move over to windows 10, not giving them much choice

Which came first Windows 7 or Ryzen?
MS isn't forcing anything. Stick to Windows 7, it's legacy so don't expect the latest things to work with it.

/Meh I have to explain this to adults.

It's MS purposefully not supporting it because they want to force people onto Win 10, not because it won't work. Their Win 10 for free wasn't even appealing enough, they had to spam everyone and then there was them making it a recommended update.

And what about Windows 8/8.1 which is still under Mainstream Support until January 2018? That also can't run updates on Ryzen, because MS has decided Windows updates should not be allowed.

MS is using it as a tactic to force people onto Win10, it's not for any good technical reason.

Switch to Linux.

/Who wants to run the latest hardware with legacy software

They're still giving away Windows 10 so not sure what the big hoo-ha is.

The Win10 fanboys are weirdly cultish, both here and on MyGaming.

It's still kuk, 2 years later. We all use Win7 at work. The only people in the office who regularly have to struggle are the two who were unlucky enough to get Win10 PCs. It's just issue after issue for those poor blokes. The fanboys will probably blame the users, though.

'Legacy' software...
