Windows 7 breaks Amazon records

Windows 7 has overtaken Harry Potter novels and the Nintendo Wii to become the biggest grossing pre-order product of all time in the UK, according to e-commerce giant Amazon.

In an announcement which will be music to Microsoft's ears, Amazon.co.uk declared that the new operating system sold more pre-order copies in the first eight hours of its release than Vista did in its entire pre-order period.

"The launch of Windows 7 has superseded everyone's expectations, storming ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the biggest grossing pre-order product of all-time at Amazon.co.uk, and demand is still going strong, " said Amazon.co.uk managing director Brian McBride.

"Over the past three months, only Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol has sold more copies than Windows 7, which is an incredible achievement for a software product."

Locally they were sold out at Esquire within hours.

So much for all your efforts. :D Shame.

Are you paranoid? Do you think I care? You project your own insecurities on me.
You won't find me upgrading to Windoze 7. Enjoy and Steve Ballmer says: "Thanks for the cash!" :)

FYI I never watched a single Happy Potter movie or read any of these kiddie books either.

At the end of the day, you are happy to pay a highly inflated price on a Mac to Apple but unhappy to pay R1000 to another company.

That just does not make sense to me.

You're wasting your time. In Peter's mind, he sees himself as one of the "trendy" people used in Apple ads. To the rest of us they just look like people who can't do anything on a computer if they weren't able to drag and drop :)
 
I have to say the price is really good on Windows 7 plus it runs well. I am well impressed.

If measured against vista then yeah - it is awesome.

This is further proof of just how bad Vista was.

Nope i pirated vista but as soon as i get paid i am buying it. Windows 7 like xp deserves to be bought legally and the pricing is pretty decent.

Spent all my cash this month on a ps3 and 2 games, the end of the month is close.

Vista was only bad because it took a great machine to run nicely but yes vista was a huge flop and windows 7 has put that right. Now obviously the mac/linux users won't buy it but people running xp or vista will love it.

Well if you're actually paying for software it must be awesome. :)
So no more viruses etc?
