Nah. I'm not entirely convinced.
1) I don't want to sit so close to the screen anyway
2) Its no good for any tasks except the ones demonstrated
3) The angle will make your hands tired soon

One, thing from my experience with is iPhone is that u need to wipe the screen off now and again.
Wouldn't want to have do that on a 24" screen.
A big "Screw you" to Microsoft for making me buy Vista when this is going to be out in 1 1/2 years time.

There are two "sides" within MS, if you will - the retarded IE side, and the .NET side. .NET is quite simply an amazing piece of kit.
To be honest, I don't see anything wrong with Vista. The problem seems to be people's reluctance to accept change.

i do see problems, it's hungry eye candy system and why must i use something that don't support most current applications? it's in peoples nature, change brings about stress.

Has anyone here ever used a touch screen on a PC to actually do work? I use two screens at work, and it'll be expensive to buy new touch screens. After about a day, I'd be cursing having to keep moving my hands from my resting position on my desk to pushing the screen. And instead of a lazy movement of the mouse, i have to traverse the screen. So the whole touch screen, to me, is just a fancy gimmick.

Microsoft would have done well to discard the current kernel and codebase, and like Apple, switch over to an unix kernel instead.
Then all they need to do is to acknowledge that they use an unix kernel, write their own windows manager, port their applications, and they're finished. But this would mean that they won't own the kernel, and can't sneak their own undocumented system calls in. Remember those? Undocumented system calls. Used to give their own applications an unfair advantage above their competitor's applications. Hmmmm.
Regarding older windows applications - use virtualization to run these apps (should they switch over to an unix kernel).
But no, old kernel means old vulnerabilities, so windows will still remains as vulnerable as ever. Should they manage to patch the old vulnerabilities, then newer ones will develop.

Touch-screen support is great for an POS (point-of-sale) application (not the other meaning of POS
) as the teller only need to input the transaction on the screen and no mouse or keyboard is needed. Woolworths use these - and it is efficient. As for ergonomics and strain on the wrists and the such, I don't know.
But 18 months is a long time, and I think it will be too late for Microsoft to try and patch things up with their customers. Not especially if the various Linux distros (and Mac OSX) goes into high-octane gear...

You fellas need to stop thinking "touch screen" and think more "multi touch surface". Very difficult mindset to break.

Who cares about a touch screen when Vista is already so bloated? I'd much rather have a faster OS and new filesystem (defrag deserves to die) than all the fancy touchscreen functionality in the world. What a load of bollocks! Its like the cellphone makers adding all these stupid features that almost no one needs instead of improving features that are used.
