Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computers hardware error

The licence key for Windows 8 (OEM version) is hard-coded into the TPM - that's why there is no longer a COA licence key sticker on any Windows 8-certified PC or Laptop, which means you no longer need to enter this key during the setup option.

It is only the retail (off-the-shelf) 'Upgrade' versions of Windows 8 that include a licence key - as this is usually installed over Windows 7 - or can also be done as a clean install if you have formatted the HDD already.

OK well I am busy downloading Windows 8 again and going to try install it on the new laptop, hopefully it works and then will try again to get Windows 7 loaded.
 
Rather avoid the ongoing frustrations you have encountered so far, in trying unsuccessfully to get Windows 7 to run on incompatible hardware, and get the retailer that originally sold the laptop to the user to re-image the HDD with the original Windows 8 setup (including the recovery partition), and then install Classic Shell.

Then inform the user of the minor differences to the Start menu & dialog boxes compared to those of Windows 7 (very minimal in fact, as I use both Windows 7 for work & Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell at home) and be done with it.

P.S.: Be prepared for more tech support for the user, when the free upgrade to Windows 10 is rolled out by Microsoft towards the end of the year.

Nothing seems to be working out for me with this laptop... I have created the Windows 8 USB and when I boot from it I get the black screen with blue windows logo and a spinning circle which just keeps spinning??? This has been going on for the last 45 minutes. Anyone have any advice?
 
So I got it past that loading screen and have chosen the currency and language but now it needs a product key??? I thought it automatically gets it from the BIOS? What do I do now...

Disable legacy boot. Windows 7 does support UEFI. One way to test if you are in fact booted into a Windows 7 EFI installation is to try to create more than 4 primary partitions (not sure if this is possible in the installer, but it will refuse to install onto a 'gpt' disk if it is installing in legacy mode).

Load up Ubuntu installer, format disk 'label' as gpt, and create 5 primary partitions (make the first one 200mb fat32, and the others equal size ntfs), then load up Windows installer to see if it will install there. If so, then you are in UEFI install mode, not legacy.

I have diasbled Legacy and secure boot in BIOS and it allows me to install Windows 7 but on the final part before you enter username and password I get the error that it cant be installed on this hardware. I then did the trick to force complete but then I cant install drivers ect so it a huge problem.

Going to try install windows 8 and see what happens.

Are these for Windows 8.1?

Might still be booting legacy anyway. If you don't have a solid boot manager then you won't boot properly. Open command line in administrator mode after installing on windows 7 (forced or whatever) and first give us the result of the 'bcdboot' command. Next use the command 'mountvol z: /s' in start/run or command prompt and tell us what files there are on z:
 
Soz I meant 'bcdedit' not 'bcdboot'. You can also run these commands in the command prompt during cd boot repair mode. Once again

Bcdedit
Mountvol z: /s
Z:
Dir efi\boot
Dir efi\microsoft

If you you can't do this, or find your efi partition in Ubuntu or otherwise, you have installed legacy

OK will do this as soon as I have installed Windows again.
 
You possibly downloaded wrong version of Windows 8, if right one it won't display key screen, ask me downloaded it 3 times
