windows winload.exe and ql2300.sys issue

Hi All

I have been googling away since last night. When booting windows it tells me that winload.exe is corrupt or missing. SO I googled and it said I need to do a repair. When inserting the windows disc and booting from it, it then tells me that \windows\system32\drivers\ql2300.sys is either missing or corrupt. So I make a backup of the one that is in the drivers folder and download one of the net. I am still getting the same issue tho when trying to boot from CD. It goes as far as loading windows files and the windows 7 logo comes up and then shoots out the error ql2300.sys is either missing or corrupt. I have tried booting with hirens but can not seem to find an app there that can sort it out. Has anyone else here got any idea how to sort it out.

1. Is this a new installation of Win7?
2. Which apps did you install recently?
3. Is your copy of Windows legit?

Did you try following these instructions: http://social.technet.microsoft.com...g-or-corrupt-no-its-not?forum=itprovistasetup ?

Note that this is done in recovery (command line) mode, not repair mode.

1 Old Install( roughly 3 months old)
2 It one of our shop computers so dont think there anything new installed
3 Yes it is a legit copy of Windows

Yes I have tried that but can not even get into the screen to select language. Just before it gets there it throws out the error ql2300 is either missing or corrupt

yes memtest comes back that all is in order no faults

Have you considered backing up all your files and just doing a clean install? Given that the system is only 3 months old, everything should still be fairly well organised?

Backup and fresh install for piece of mind.

I know you said memtest came back fine, but perhaps you could fiddle with the RAM a bit. Take some of it out, swap it around, if you have spare sticks of RAM put them in and take the old ones out, etc.

Yeah, you'd definitely want to get some new RAM, I think.

I had damaged ram on a 7K graphics card once

Ok Just swapped the Memory out now and that has made it possible to get into the windows install. Now when i do bootrec /scanos it does not pic up my OS. It not a matter of just reloading windows. As the POS company charges R6000 to get there software back on so trying to get windows working without having to reinstall everything again
