Wow, this is clearly the chauvinist thread then. Most companies I worked for, the top female developers had no problem competing with their male counterparts.

Yep, I am beginning to understand why there are so few female developers.

not if you pay them a full salary and end up having to re-do the work they had to do in the first place WHILE you're doing your work AS WELL and get PAID LESS than she does...

Oh and the beauty of it all? She doesn't understand so then you have to do it... even after you explained what to do and even gave examples of working code...

This is rubbish. If you read the posts here you will see that there are a lot of people who have a lot of respect for most of the female developers they've worked with and then a lot of people talking rubbish.

The ratio between good and bad female developers is probably much higher than with men. In my experience it has been anyway.

well out of my humble life experiances at my current and previous development unit i've only met One decent female devloper rest really was really not on-par with even average male junier dev.

i'm yet to meet more. but i have to confess interviewing for a decent dev male/female/martian is a bitch. most say they have X amount of experiance, but can't pass a simple few questions on paper when it comes to real know-how knowledge and so fort.

First off, i have almost a decade of experience. I've only worked for myself since January of this year.

As a consultant working with several clients at any one time and several programmers we hire to fill the gaps if the core team couldn't cope, I can safely say that I've met more than 2 women programmers and they ALL gave issues.

However, I can say the same for guys fresh out of Varsity with a chip on their shoulder, Pakistani's, Indians (no not the American ****ing version), Blacks and several other Middle-East cultured folk where programmers are a dime a dozen and there seems to be nothing between the ears of anyone... yes, even the female programmers.

You know who makes a good programmer?

White, Afrikaaner guys with a sense of the world (meaning, they've either traveled the planet further than their town Krugersdorp or has a sense that they're not mommies perfect little sing-star and can pass for an Idols winner)

And just to show you how ****ing petty I can be, I fixed your spelling mistake. Throwing big words at someone when you know you're wrong is just a bit too childish IMO.
