Work Abroad (Germany)

Hi everyone.

I was wondering what steps do one follow to find work in Europe, eg. Germany. I have a Computer Engineering degree (BEng) from the University of Pretoria, and 3 years of working experience various coding languages. I would like to go for a year or 2 and then come back to South Africa.

Do I use a agent in South Africa. My sister was scammed by one when she wanted to go to USA. Or do I just send my cv to an agent in Germany and then sort out my working visa after finding a job?

If someone could just give me some guidelines on this, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Bernhard

Create a profile on http://www.stepstone.de/en and perhaps also look at internships via LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/job/internship-jobs-germany/

I think Germany will be tough, as the standards when it comes to IT are substantially higher than in SA. During my stint in Germany pretty much everyone on my team was academically light-years ahead with Phd's, doctorates and professors everywhere - this made it very challenging but was a huge learning opportunity to work with some of the best.

2 posts since 2006??

If you have the drive to take some risk, I'd consider looking at finding a startup in Berlin to work for.

Probably an easier way to get into Germany than a normal company (unless you are highly specialized, in which case your skills would be better sought after in countries like the USA).

Good luck.
