Only if I have severe symptoms or I know I came in close contact with someone who has COVID

Yeah, our company is well over R60k in tests just this year... the hardest hitters are the ones outside the country, some places charge up to R3k per person.

I'll test if my Dr wants me to do so, as I have done in the past.

Also, since I have to pay for all day to day medical stuff I don't have money for Dr consults, PCR/Rapid covid tests to waste. So, there is that... I suppose it speaks more to your point.

If I have been sick I would let my friends know that I/we have been sick and they can make up their own mind. That's the extent of my self-imposed quarantine measures.
 
Only been sick once since lockdown, got tested and was covid negative. Last time I had vaccine for anything was about 30 years ago, I guess my immune system works.
 
I am going to do a home antigen test, as I was exposed on Thursday/Friday and have felt a little throaty the last couple of days. If it is negative I will accept it. If it is positive I will do a other test to verify. I won’t then be going for a PCR test.

Only doing the test because I have a staff function on Friday, and it is “the right thing to do”, policy wise, as an executive in the business.

If I knew I was “exposed”, but was asymptomatic, I would not get tested.

Btw, I am vaxxed but consider this whole thing to be blown out of proportion.
 
I have a pack of lateral flow tests at home so I would test myself.

Some jobs require that you report, so there'd be no choice there as they'll want a test to show why you are sitting at home instead of reporting to work as mandated.

This. I have the same problem and never has a single thing been said to me, maybe some looks here and there but no more than that. One thing though I do sneeze noticeably less since wearing a mask when out since I presume its keeping irritants out.
 
I've been in contact with people who tested positive at work. I was just sent home for 10 days and told to get tested if I start showing symptoms. I had symptoms that disappear after a day but never went for a test since all this started.
 
After my son tested positive last week, and the other one developed fever over the weekend, and I started with some sniffles and a sore throat last week Thursday, I decided I'll go for a test, and went earlier today for a rapid antigen test at Dischem.

And it was negative. Now -- was it negative because I don't have Covid? Or negative since I was vaccinated? Or negative because it is too early/too late? Or negative since the rapid tests can have a fairly high false-negative rate?

Could be too early. What did the “other one” test as?
