No, 'cause I'm vaccinated. Why would any vaccinated person want get tested for Covid?

You can still get Covid - just lower probability that you'd get it, lower probability that you give it to somebody else and lower probability that you get seriously ill / land in hospital / die.

At this point I sit with a runny nose and a slightly irritated throat - even though I had both Pfizer shots.

Positive as well, went for a rapid test this afternoon.

So two of my kids have it -- although both are completely asymptomatic. Since it is almost impossible to isolate from them in my own home (I mean, they're 9 and 3 years old respectively) I'm fairly certain I have it as well (even though I am vaccinated and the rapid test showed negative).

If you woke up with covid symptoms would you get tested, or would you assume you had it and self-isolate for the recommended period of 14 days?

Or would you just carry on as usual?

Will ONLY get a test IF requested by my doctor. No one is going to shove a probe up my nose for no valid reason, especially given the rise of cases where the membrane protecting the brain is being punctured because the probe is shoved in too deep, leading to the leaking of cerebral and spinal fluid though the upper nasal cavities.

I have a had a few... it was expensive until I realised Discovery pay if you get a letter from a doctor.

I have had 3 so far.

1: Exposed at work and was 2 weeks before my kids birthday - negative
2: Wife exposed at work and got sick, she was positive I was negative and not sick. This was a day after said birthday so needed to test so we could tell everyone at the party we exposed them
3: A few months ago - numbers were still high and the wife and I got sick. Both negative.

oh and its my kids birthday again this week so... sigh.

EDIT: I was also very sick during the first week of lockdown. testing wasn't readily available at that stage - only if you were going to hospital.

Wow, so young, you need to look after and monitor the 3 year old.
Also, fever, coughing, itch throat etc are symptoms, so to say completely asymptomatic is incorrect.
You should test again by Friday just to make sure.
Did they get it at school? It’s good to know so you can warn the others that have been in contact.

I also have some rapid tests I bought from an EU country that I take with me when I travel now, and a thermometer and pulse oximeter in my travel bag. You never know when you might get a symptom and need to check it.

Though last time I tried to use them on a staff member that travelled with me they threatened to beat me on the head with a beer bottle lol.

Yep, school. Had a merit evening on the 18th and the day afterwards 3 of the teachers who were there tested positive (my guess is they probably shouldn't have been there that evening...)

Eldest (who was there) had symptoms (well two of them - fatigue and a headache) on the 23rd, but pretty much only on the day. If it wasn't for the fact that the teachers tested positive we wouldn't even worry about those symptoms too much. Did a rapid test the morning after, before school and took him home when it was positive. His whole class has since been isolating.

He has not complained about any symptoms (even a runny nose, or scratchy throat) since.

His brother was miserable on Saturday, but being 3 years old, couldn't immediately tell us why. Took his temperature and realised he had a fever. Thus took him for a test today and was positive. No real symptoms since (although he didn't want to take a bath tonight and wanted to go to bed immediately, but no idea if he was feeling unwell).

err no. The swab isnt long enough or flexible enough to puncture the brain via the ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses. The nasal turbinates are actually curved as well.

You can cause a nose bleed but thats about it
