Would you go to war?

I think the OP has missed a beat here... Stay and fight. Hell yes. Fight under the command of the SANDF, not so much... Militia would be my call. We have a history of citizen fighters here, as do many countries who have seen attacks by occupying forces... It rarely goes well for the occupiers.
The Commandos fell under the SADF...

I would never join a local militia. The command structure would be a total mess.

BTW not everything about the SANDF is a failure.

Think I'm way too old to be told what to do by a one-pip who's never fired a weapon in anything other than training.
Agree with your SANDF thing 'tho... The boys in the CAR handled themselves pretty well.

Here's the problem though, its your government and its army that will be giving you, and your fellow soldiers the training and weaponry required.... a government that can't keep electricity and water supply running (and there are quite a few other examples).

You might think, I'm awesome and can hold my own, but you also need to know the guy next to you and behind you can - and does not accidentally shoot you in the head :p

Agree, how many people are actually trained to fight that arent all ou toppies from days gone by training is all you have to fall back on when the paw paw hits the fan.

I used to have hope for this country and it's people, but daily commute to work in JHB traffic has taught me a lot. I see how people drive on the wrong side of the road, sometime 2 abreast, the hooting and above all the selfishness....

Why would I fight for these people, if their true colors come out in some traffic ?
I'd be long gone, I used to think the majority of people are inherently good, with a few apples. It's actually the other way around.

does it mean I have to shoot a gun? then no i'm sitting this one out.

A large support team is required to assist the "wat machine".

You can do the admin work to ensure we get paid on time and correctly. :p

I wonder where the pay will come from though, everyone will be at war :p

All they would need to do is target a few Eskom facilities and were powerless.

I have no problem with war and taking part in it. However, that being said, I will not fight for SA. I will, without a doubt, commit treason and assist the enemy. But, then again, if all structures are in place and deployed for a civil war against the government and their supporters, I am all in.

For me it depends on who the enemy is, not who is currently in control of the country.

Islamic insurgents ? OK, hand me that gun.

Civil war ? Cheers, I'm on the first boat out of here.
The same goes for any other fight we stir up with Bot's/Zim/Mozam.... thats tribal wars, if they want to start shooting at each other than they can do it without me.

I's stay and fight if its something that could or already is a global threat. There is no point in running away from a problem that is just going to become bigger and eventually catch up with you wherever you move to

Yep - sounds about right to me.
