WoW is for nubbins

Not much to say, I understand your point emphatically (I came close to quitting, too, for much the same reasons).
However, one thing to note is that post BC WoW is a slightly different animal. A lot has been done to incorporate the casual. You used to *have* to raid if you wanted to get gear to pvp in, but now you simply rack up some arena points by playing 10 games a week per bracket- thats at most 1 or 2 hours an entire week - and over time the gear will come, and you'll get better, get better ratings and so on. If pvp aint your bag, running heroics for 'badges' can net you some solid gear. Running short of gold? Daily quests can net you about 100g or more from an hour or two. Even levelling is easier, with about 40 to 50% more xp on average being granted from questing and mobs combined from level 20 to 60. People level to 70 in anywhere between 1 to 3 weeks nowdays, if they focus.
Blizzard have gone a *long* way to incorporating the casual player, and it's why the numbers have increased so drastically since the expansion. Pre BC there was a huge gap between casual and hardcore. That gap has since shrunk drastically.
Even the endgame raids, while still hard, have been designed around less trash and more complex/harder bosses.
And virtually all 5man instances are 'winged', and much shorter than the epic snorefests of Scholo, Strat, BRD and the like.
Lastly, moving to EU from US makes all the difference, you can actually *get groups* outside of being in an SA guild, and the ping is far, far better.

Not trying to 'sell' the game to you, don't get the wrong impression, just clarifying that things have changed a lot since the days where farming MC for hours every night was the only option you had. Yes the recipe for 'addiction' into end-game raiding is still there, if you want to explore it, but if you want to enjoy the casual side of the game without being gimp, these days you can.

Dude, if a forum post has ever gotten me close to playing WoW again, it's that one. *loads up TF2 to escape the tractor beam*

You would have loved TBC... warlocks are so overpowered its sickening !
There were buffed so insane, you need a 40 man raid to kill a warlock in BG's nowdays !

It seems like they are slowly being nerfed brought inline with other classes.
You see other classes getting boosts here and there, and locks are like staying the same, or getting silent nerfs. :)

I expected better from you Pornolio. Warlocks have received many nerfs since release of TBC.

Why are locks OPed? Instead of spouting utter nonsense, validate your points.

Warlocks are strong but that they do not roll over every single class.

wow mechanics are easy to learn but hard to master

You make it pretty evident that you got assraped and blamed ur sucky gear, hence my l2p.

LOL Pit, who are you grouping with nowdays?

Kinda of silly trying to compare apples with pears.

I do not play first person shooters as I like the idea of working on a character over time.

Thats why I played UO, EQ, EQ2, DaOC, Eve, WoW.

Sure WoW is repetitive but look at any FPS. Kind of the same thing over and over.

But Barfish has it right, if you like wow, play it, if you like TF2 or BF1942, Pacman play that.

As to the poster who claims that another MMO will come along and players will leave WoW for it. DUH, that is the nature of games. Anyone here still play Doom? No better games came along and we all switch to it. TF2 will be replaced by another game in around 2 years.

This thread title is kind of childish as it is like saying "My Kingcone is better than your Kingcone because mine has nuts in it and yours doesn't".

Hahahaha BC, this thread made me laugh :) well I've also been playing wow for a while now, though not very hardcore-ish (ie I get maybe 2-5 hours a week in) and lo and behold I'mk a lock :P
You really should give it a try again, what server is your gf on? (lol that sounds like a really bad question to ask....)

re: the 'locks r op' derail, as a resto shaman i actually have little trouble beating a lock 1 on 1. Once you have about 300 resilience and 10k hp, the sl or affliction locks will have a bit of trouble killing you before the fear DR's kick in and i heal myself back up. Outrange them while spell-locked and try get out of LOS then kill the pet, earthshock their lifedrains and keep grounding totem down and purge their fel armour and suddenly they don't know what to do and just stand their panicking while you whittle them down.
There is actually precious little a resto shaman can't beat 1v1. Hunters are one of them. Arcane shot needs to be whacked with the nerf bat *hard*. Pushback + dispel + damage on a 6sec cooldown instant cast is absolutely, completely op. I don't know wtf Blizz were thinking.

The problem is in group pvp though. Fear spam is still annoying as hell and my biggest point of contention is how often fear bugs out (running through walls, falling through the map, occasionally get focused without the fear breaking etc etc). If it wasn't for the sheer random 'lol i win' factor of fear, locks would really be fine.
Of course characters that have no way to break fear or heal and interrupt have much harder times facing warlocks. Hunters arent autowin against warlocks, except perhaps for BM spec. If a lock gets even one fear off against a MM or Surv hunter and begins the dotspam-fear rotation, it's pretty much game.

I think this game is pretty balanced for pvp actually, locks are far less overpowering than they were before the resilience dot nerf. Nowdays everyone's running around with 300+ resi.

Locks go Squish

Stun lock, once they get all their dots in I pop a cloak, use insignia of the horde, Vanish and stun lock again = Squish :D

My oh my... seems I have stepped on some warlocks toes here.
Guys, guys, guys, don't be so sensitive. Its no secret if there was any class people have been whining and moaning about since TBC its been the warlock class. If ever there was a good time to play the warlock class, it was with the launch of the expansion. And that was the point of my post, the OP missed the best time in WoW to play a lock... Blizz has its way with classes.. every class gets his day in the sun where they are soooo powerful, it makes the other classes whine. Warlocks had their turn when TBC was launched. I really feel for warlocks... they are getting nerfs every patch, but don't you honestly think there is any justification to it ?
The most recent one I can think of is the resilience / DOT thing.

Relax a bit and enjoy some of the humor wrt to lock OP whines :

Wow is very much a eazy mode game. There is very little skill required to get epix or anything mostly just luck and time. Sure with skill you won't be great and there is a difference between the skilled and unskilled, but any noob with no skill and enough time can get great pvp gear.

I am not knocking it so don't get me wrong, but it very easy compared to some other games. But it is still fun and addictive.
