Has any1 played with WoW using the new uncapped offerings from mweb or afrihost? Can any1 give some in game latencies?

I want to know as well..

I'm on the WA 30 gig account for R199 a month and my latency is damn nice. Would be wanting to know what the uncap offerings latency is before I decide to make a move.

I just got the 4mbit one today, i will test it tonight with and without lowerping and post my results later.

Too be honest, I'm actually keen to give this a try as well now...

But... question, where can I download the software? (not the expansions and stuff) - just the basic version to test...

You must have the full client, but you can get yourself a free test account from the WoW website.

10 day free trial signup for wow-europe: http://teaser.wow-europe.com/

Then download the client from that same link or use a local but oldish link: for example: http://196.220.59.143/files/wow-enGB-client/client 3.2.2a/ which is 3.2.2a then you can download the patches from lets say: ftp://ftp.wage.co.za/Patches/WoW/

Or get the client from someone that lives nearby you...

Its about a 15gb download.

You can also try to use the Trial client: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/downloads/trial/

It will download the minimum needed at first, and then download the rest while playing. You can only use it with trial accounts, but it should get you quickly in the game to see.

I'm not sure if the trial client still works, but it's from the WoW website and I know it was working in TBC 2.4.3, when my friend tried it out.

I'm getting about 600ms Average Ping on Guild Wars on Afrihost's 4mb uncapped.

The uncapped is shapped, so you will get extra latencies. :(

One of our guys posted last night:
Nice thing that I noticed, latency after hours for me on Afri is still the same as the normal dialup from them, so it seems like they keep the unshaped after hours thing going

Haven't tested it myself yet though.

So is webafricas shaped accounts shaped, and i was getting about 250ms on there accounts. I was unable to test last night, but will try tonight and report back

@Conack

These accounts go through mweb, and only if mweb unshape them are they unshaped, afrihost does not and cannot control that aspect of them, so that guy is talking out his ass. and WTF "NORMAL DIALUP"

Argh, you bastard :p We were all waiting for you :p

Shaping is not always a bad thing, depending on what the shaping prioritizes. Shaping usually don't limit traffic, instead it gives preference to prioritized traffic. In that model, if WoW traffic get at least some priority over P2P and/or other downloads, then latencies would seem unshaped, even though it really is shaped.

What most people call "shaped" is actual limiting on complete accounts. This method of shaping is actually closer to the term "throttling", and this can have major affects on any internet connection.

Haha why am i a bastard?:P I would have tested but mweb was having radius authentication problems, so my password was just never being accepted.
