WoW with new uncapped offerings

Reading through alot of threads this morning, atleast a couple of chaps have reported that it doesn't seem like their uncapped Afrihost accs are shaped during offpeak.

Re Afrihost using Mweb accounts - do you have a link?

Umm lol, you know they afrihost just resells accounts right? go look in the ADSL section.
 
Right got my ADSL uncapped as well now :D Will test tonight!

Mine is with Afrihost though. As far as I have read after ours it's not shaped so shouldn't really have an effect on WoW latencies. Just during the day might be a bit hectic :p

Ok im going to answer you as nice as i honestly can. If you bothered to actually do some research you will see the accounts that mweb sell are "SHAPED", being resellers afrihost cannot modify or access the QoS'ing protocols on these accounts because wait for it, they just purchase segments and sell them. Secondly the "UNSHAPED" option is the business uncapped option NOT the normal one. Please do some research before looking like a twit. Because you get good pings or okish pings with the products does not mean they are unshaped. I got awesome pings with webafrica's shaped accounts, and got **** pings with there unshaped accounts.

It wasnt a dig at any person just a suggestion - Reason i dnt play wow any more is due to lag
So i been browseing the forum and looking for best solution. As u can guess all i read is i get 215 on access Account Unshaped to find out its a 4 meg , proxy , lower ping, and DC every 5 min

Use to 197 ms on 8 mB connection in UK

But thx for answer

197ms on 8mbit UK wow thats crap:P i got a friend in the UK who gets 20ms
 
220-250 stable with no proxies or anything besides the TCPAckFrequency fix. Theoretically 180 is the lowest lat you can get in SA if I'm not mistaken but that involves a crapload of additional things.

Like I mentioned.

connection: WA normal shaped account, on 4mbit line. Used to be 512kbit same experience.
proxy: It is a Virtual Private Server from some shady company in London. Thus only me and 1 friend on it. SSH in with dynamic proxy on localhost, and using Sockscap32 on Windows 7 x64. The proxy is on vps.hero.za.net if you want do to a ping/traceroute test to it. From the proxy itself its about 10-15ms to EU-Sylvanas which is a high pop realm.

Thanks for attempting to answer "nicely". Don't want to be an ass, but let's look at this carefully for a second.

Mweb advertises their standard uncapped "home" service as Shaped.

According to Afrihost their uncapped service is Semi-Shaped.

Openweb is reselling Mweb accounts.
Afrihost resells IS bandwidth, NOT Mweb accounts.
By the looks of it Mweb Uncapped is bouncing directly through Seacom.
Mweb can't dictate whether Afrihost accounts are shaped or not.

Please provide your research (links) to prove otherwise. :wtf:
 
Did a trace to www.google.com just to check the route that the Afrihost uncapped uses and it goes over the IS link to UK :D So it should be fine after hours with ping :)
 
Can we have same in game pings and latencies with these uncapped accounts?

Ill get a free mweb uncapped account in April. Will let you know then. However I know my latency is going to be higher than it is now, reason 1 being traffic going over Seacom instead of SAT3.
 
Logged in just few mins ago. 1248ms >.<

Will check again after 7ish when the shaping is gone :p Hope it improves!

EDIT: I had torrents open lol. Average under 320 - 400 ms :)

ye what draws me to afrihosts uncapped offering is that it is semi-shaped just like their capped data.

So you should get the same latency.
