XBMC Gotham v13 customisation tips for PC users

Would powering the PI via usb port on Samsung TV cause any issues?

Damn... I must "Acquire" a 1080p 3D of Avatar (I had one but alas, I fooked up and deleted my Nas Server partitions)
 
My Pi upgraded last night to Gotham along with a new kernel (hadn't been switched off in months). After this my wifi connection keeps on dropping as soon as some load hits it, using Plex. Also had an issue with the firewall script taking all cpu time.

I will see if it's better behaved tonight. Otherwise I'll go back to Frodo.
 
Hooked up PI to sony amp , booted, picked up smart TV remote and viola - controlling PI with samsung remote.

PI powered by dstv decoders usb port.

Any idea why I would get massively varying sound levels in different episodes/shows?

Upgraded to Gotham and now I have the problem where some of the episodes' sound levels are very low and I have to crank up the volume to almost max. The very next episode the levels are back to normal again and I wake up the whole neighborhood with the loudness.

This isn't just with different shows. Happens with same show, different episodes.
eg. Masterchef AU Episode 6 - Soft
Masterchef AU Episode 7 - burst eardrums.
 
Is there a way to get a addon/pluginn for netflix on Gotham, I have gone through all the plugins in the menu but nothing.
The last I saw this was with an earlier version of XBMC where it was called XBMCNetflix?
 
Which version of xbmc is best for the PI.

I'm on stable Gotham raspbmc but it does feel sluggish .

I have read openelec is faster?

Is it maybe better option to download Noobs which seems to come with Rasbian, Openelec and Raspbmc?

No idea but reckon that little unit will do nicely.

So finally opted for Openelec on my PI, working well, menus are faster and I can Airplay about 95% of my videos effectively - does buffer for a minute or 2 though.
 
Has anyone managed to get the Youtube plugin to work properly , I still cant log in with mine, and I have tried several fixes like editing the scripts and patch files *Sigh*

Also seems like the Hulu plugin is broken forever now...
 
Yea search allways worked, its just the signing in bug, problem is about 95% of my youtube viewing is from subscriptions and I cant view them directly from the plugin anymore.

At the moment, I have to go onto my smart phone, brows my YT Subs and then use Yatse to send the link to XBMC, not ideal.
 
Now that more people are starting to use XBMC 13.0 codename “Gotham,” several issues have popped up which thorough testing hadn’t previously revealed.

We have already released two 13.1 beta versions, which had several fixes and improvements compared to the 13.0 stable release.

To that end, we are announcing this 13.1 RC1 release which include these fixes. Do note that this release contain only fixes, and no new features.

Although we call this a release candidate release, it should be safe to install on top of your current 13.0 install, as changes are minimal and confirmed working.

Should you find any problems, you can find how to report these at the bottom of this blog post.

This release candidate contains the fixes compared to previous 13.0

* Fix resume point of certain PVR items begin stale on playback.
* Fix weirdness when certain TVs query XBMC’s UPnP server and it starts running a bunch of add-ons which cause popups on the XBMC machine.
* Fix crash at exit while airplay is playing
* Better recovery of VDPAU on errors.
* Fixes for cropping of interlaced content using VDPAU.
* Fix for FLAC tracks with large embedded images not playing.
* Fix for crash if librtmp wasn’t available.
* Fix for ffmpeg building on linux using later versions of librtmp.
* Fix for broken m4a, mp4 playback with paplayer.
* Fix for the hint text not being shown in editcontrols once unfocused.
* Fix minor memory leak in PlayMedia builtin function.
* Fix albumartist use in song smartplaylists.
* Use unique client broadcast UID in the PVR api.

Ok so I have updated my drivers.
I have installed a new codec pack
Made the audio on OS exclusive use.
But still the crackling.

When playing the exact same media via Classic player without XBMC no problem.
I will try to revert back to a older version of XBMC and see if that solves mu problem.

Else I will be using the USB crappy sound card for now, untill a fix or updated driver comes out.
