I came across this and tried it, and it worked.

The only issue is, if your xbox is turned off you have to start over again.
Also, the 33% success rate is not so accurate for me. Maybe 1-in-6/7 makes the connection. When it does, it works fine with the games I downloaded from the Internet Archive.

I recall fixing many units that had that issue by just overheating the unit for the most part.

I bought one of these to be able to play Fable and then sold it. I liked the controller though, very comfy.
