Xbox 360 to get Blu-ray?

Of course you can't really hear it - and you know it.

Plus, I think we've discussed the lack of titles offering all these HD sound formats

Well not everyone has a problem with hearing, or specific determining direction of sound and staging. For someone with an expensive HT system you come across as very uninformed or may just not interested. If you tell me that you cannot hear the difference between 2ch stereo, 5.1 channel surround and 7.1+ surround then there is a massive problem with your hearing or music comprehension.

Lack of titles? I have a decent range of DTS 5.1, DTS ES (6.2), DD EX, THX, True HD, DTS HD, DTS HD MA, I think you just did not really put an effort in trying to find the right titles. You buy by title name only? No use to look what SK print on the lable as that is 9/10 times just the default 5.1 dolby spec, its is also very region specific as some regions do not release all the available sound formats on a specific title, you have to do your research on the net. BluRay on the other hand mostly have all the available sound formats on disk, again do research on the availability there is sites specializing in just that.

From what I've seen, the Xbox actually scores more? Some examples maybe?

Why is it suddenly required? The article mentions it's a addon for watching HD movies. Nowhere have they ever mentioned anything about BR games.

I know it's difficult for PS3 owners to understand, but it's an addon. You can buy it if you want, but you don't need it to play games. Same as the wifi dongle every PS3 owner seems to be going on about?

Oh and here I thought the Xbox (according to some MyBB members) do not need anything to watch HD movies? Bwahahahaha, See thats the whole moot point!
No it's not we that's going on about the wireless, The Xbots always hammer the point, also the market is moving to wireless FAST! It's already build in as standard on the PS3, You have to pay extra. Someone hailed because MS now made the Wireless N available (at a price), but third party units was available long before that and cheaper too. Fact is for all that extra "requirements" you need to pay extra, ME not! :p Comes down to value for money again. Anyway enjoy your Arcades, I enjoy all the inclusive PS3 features.

Very uninformed? I think I've knocked you down on every HT aspect you've brought up or tried telling people with less knowlesge. I just don't fall for your bull**** half the time and actually do understand what I'm talking about. I can back it up too ;)

Anyway - I didn't mention the number of channels. Obviously one can hear 2 channel to 5.1 channel etc. I mean the lossless, uncompressed, high bitrate etc etc that makes it a HD format is what some people battle to hear - or hear a minimal difference. (You are aware that you can have a 5.1 DTS Master, right? It doesn't need to be 6.1 or 7.1?) These are also avid movie buffs with decent hearing and R50,000+ equipment ... which makes me wonder if you can really hear the difference with your speakers and amplifier? Or are you bull****ting again?

How about giving us a few DTS Master 7.1 titles? Or any 7.1 titles? Blu Ray has been otu for over 2 years and yet only a handful contain the fancy HD formats you like to throw around.

In fact, I checked tons of new releases and found the highest to be DTS Master 5.1 with the odd having Dolby True HD http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/

Battlestar Galactica
100 Feet
Blood: The Last Vampire
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Wrong Turn 3
Drag Me to Hell
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Add many, many others ...

Dolby how can you hear any HD sound on stereo.Hmm, Now you say that you did not talk about the number of channels, Well in the context of this discussion someone did. I's not that hard to be a jackass is it? You make a success of that every time. You never read the rest of this thread to see what the context of the discussion was but just jumped in with your clever dick attitude AGAIN.

I am not going to entertain another round of you making an ass of yourself. Go read up on 7.1 channel HD formats and available titles yourself.

I throw nothing around, You like to but in when I say the PS3 can do high quality DTS master sound, something you seem to have not experience yet!

So if you do not believe it its your problem, your equipment and your hearing and/or attitude.

See this thread topic and realise this is not again one of your HT topics threads to screw around in.

Let me remind YOU what you said about yourself

Was it me?

In all honesty, it sounds like something I would say and something I did belieive - until I saw it myself.

Look how angry and aggressive you get when challenged ;)

It's stupid quotes like these I need to comment on :

Also watching a HD film without HD sound is like listening to a decent pre recorded live performance track on FM stereo. Try listening to it in 7.1 channel DTS master sound format and cum again!

Let me summarise for you :

YOU'RE not going to hear a difference. It's as simple as that. As much as you love your Sony system, it's still a Sony with Sony speakers. Try not tell all and sundry the magical differences between lossy and lossless formats when you don't have the equipment to hear it. You may theoretically be able to decode them ; but in practise the difference is tiny - if at all.

There are VERY few 7.1 discs. I HAVE read and gave you a number of titles auidio options. They all do 5.1 lossless. You posts indicate that every BR has super awesome sound - and it's bull****.

I'm not sure what you're snorting, but no one mentioned number of channels. How dumb are you to think I can't hear the difference between 2ch and 5.1ch? The HD formats are lossless - that's the big thing. You get Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1, TrueHD 5.1 and DTS Master 5.1. Each is still only 5.1 ... it's simply compression and bitrates that differ. Remember DVD was also 5.1 sound - so the only real difference between Blu Ray and DVD sound is compression. Now I'm saying you personally won't hear it - simple as that.

Also, I'm still waiting for you to give me your 7.1 titles that you have? I remember you saying you watched the Hulk in full surround ...

Just asked my son what he is playing on the PS3, Worms  You see the PS3 caters for the whole family. I will be watching HULK in 1080p and full surround sound in a very short while.

That too is only 5.1 sound though ... I'm starting to think 7.1 is available on less than 10% titles - if that.

And PS - stop assuming you know what other forumites have, don't have, the quality of the systen, how much money they have, who they are or what they've experienced in life.

You've made an idiot out of yourself once before by doing just that

No you jumped it and called me an idiot when you stated the PS3 cannot do DTS master as you could not get the PS3 to work on your 100K HT system in 8 (yes eight) months, then you retracted fast when you quickly googled and found that the newly releassed PS3 slim would solve your problem, then you found out when you bought your first HD TV and even stated that your R100K HT system's receiver seems to have the problem and you are contemplating selling it. Seems to me you are still stuck on Dolby DD5.1.

Do you always go totally off topic with random ****, never actually answering anything?

Or just to me?

Again you are out of context and are completely off topic in the wrong thread. Just as you always do. Read the thread prior to the discussion and then in context carry on in tjhis thread. If you want to discuss HD Titles and systems start another thread. Some one alluded to the fact that he watched and HD movie on his Xbox. I made a simple comment which is factual and you, clever dick your are or trying to be, are now trying to make this an off topic HT HD system discussion. So again start another thread and then we can discuss the issues you feel so offended about and trying to show all you are the expert because you have a 100K Home theathre system without a BluRay player and a HD LCD screen then (as you got yours only afterwards).

I really don't understand this whole controller issue but for morew than 2 years & A LOT of hours put into my 60GB, my hands or the controller has never been a problem for me.

Maybe it's because I have not held any other controller besides a Sony one but to me there is nothing wrong with mine.

There is the difference and a huge conundrum here, You do not bash the Xbox controllers as you never used it, there's the dilema, Some idiots bash the PS3 on many issues including the controllers yet they never even used any of it, neither the PS3 nor its controllers. Maybe they tried it with a biased mindset at a friends house and never took the time to get used to it.

I am not prepared to entertain you off topic discussions in the wrong thread.
My simple statement to someone was that he could not have viewed a HD movie on his Xbox as it was a ripped copy and allured to the fact that it was pointless watching a HD movie on stereo speakers, you ASS-umed that I am refering to the HD DTS master codecs when I was actually refering to 7.1 channels of sound. You tried to be a clever DOLBY DICK in the wrong thread again.
Cheers m8t find a HD HT thread to go and play in.

I love the way how you come off as a little kid. You say you are educated and have children etc. Yet the kids on this thread seem more intelligent than you. Besides... which 40 year old trolls forums to make the PS3 look good when clearly it fails at every turn. A 40 year old virgin?

EDIT: OMG the Xbox might get a BR player... what will I brag about then... phew at least I still have Killzone. Oh wait that is just a crap game with nice graphics. Stop whining.

lol, classic, I've been thinking the same thing. For someone who's not even a gamer, he has a awful lot to say about gaming consoles.

And why do Ps3 owners keep saying they didn't have to pay extra for BR and wifi? Obviously they paid for it, it's why the PS3 are so expensive.

Another uneducated cum Xbox supporter playin MyBB troll today. Tell us where the PS3 is failing? Lets discuss that on topic. Apparently the Xbox BluRay play rumour is debunked, they just made some idiots very happy for a day.

BTW rather a 40 year old virgin than a 14 year old w@nker, enjoying it so much?

The only idiots who got excited by this was PS3 owners it seems. Another excuse to justify their BR drive. ;)

Still out of touch? Even at the OLD expense the PS3 sold the same amount of hardware SKU's since its release as the Xbox, now that it costs less for exactly the same hardware features than before it's outselling the Xbox. So much for you intelegent argument.

I do gaming like U2, but admit I am not such a hardcore lazy ass gamer as some (you?) that just do gaming instead of doing something usefull with their time. Therefore I leave my kids to do the gaming as I hardly get access to the PS3 anymore.

Do you even read the posts before you reply? Where did I mention anything in my previous post about PS3 sales?

Something usefull like trolling Xbox threads in forums? Why do you always post in Xbox threads if you're clearly a PS3 fanboy?
