As a newbie to the console world, any suggestions for the first few games to try out? I don't really care for the genre, just want something to jump into. I'll be doing the whole Xbox gold + upgrade into gamepass tonight as well

If you're getting GP then it doesn't really matter? Just download, play and delete if you don't like it. A luxury not afforded by the other camp

I'd personally go with Gears 5 and Doom Eternal...

Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and Will of the Wisps completely captivated me (Gamepass FTW) - I played it on my PC using an Xbox One Controller and absolutely enjoyed the entire experience. When my son's Series X arrives (he's not allowed to play until after his exams) I'm going to replay those games on the LG 55' 4K TV

Can only say 1st 3 games my console gonna see
Darksiders 3 Loved 1 and 2 on PC and in 3 they changed the format to be more console friendly so Imma gonna play it as ment to be played.
Froza 4 Cause never played any before and have codes to unlock Lego stage + cars,
Destiny 2 well because


and because new expansion (Beyond Light also launching tomorrow) is included for GamePass Holders on Xbox.

Edit: Oh and did I mention Destiny was made by the original creators of Halo

Would obviously sacrifice resolution and fps, but 1080p/30 with ray tracing enabled would be a decent compromise for a budget console. Good to know that it's at least possible on the SS...

The thing is R1000 cheaper than a Nintendo Switch.... If it can do 900p at 60fps without RT I'm still sold... RT in any form for me would be an unexpected bonus.

The only reason I held off buying a console last gen is I got use to 60 fps+ on PC so could not handle the 30 lock's, not the resolution not the abilities... the 30 fps killed it for me esp when dipping bellow or created scan lines.

I know its been mentioned before, but it is worth repeating.

If you subscribe to Gamepass Ultimate for the first time only, then they'll convert your Live Gold (up to 36 months) on a month to month to Game Pass Ultimate and charge you only ~R15 for the first month.

So if you spend R1950 (3 year gold @R650) +R15, for R1975 you will get R5400 worth of gamepass ultimate and only have to worry about subs again in 2023.

Done it. It works.

Did the same, pity the cheap (R650) cards are all gone so now stuck with R800 or dodgy ones. Dont know If Nedbank ones still active?

At any event R800 its still a steal, just remember not to claim the extra month when you add the 12 month subs else you can only use 2
