Xbox Series X / S

Sony have a much longer history of being "for the gamers" than Microsoft do, thats for sure. I was a PS guy all the way up to PS4. Have been since original PS days and never bought an XBOX before now. This generation I got a Series X and Microsoft are just getting it right. GamePass is awesome, games are priced well, they've dropped their previously anti-consumer practices (like needing Gold in order to play online) and the console is solid, outperforming the PS5. In the last year my monthly fee for Game Pass Ultimate DROPPED from R149 to R119 for everything! And now they are introducing family and friends passes. Its one good thing after another this gen for Xbox. They are leading the way, and Sony are following and trying hard to keep pace.

I think that PS consumers are probably working off of loyalty and muscle memory. I cant see the exclusives as enough reason to buy the console, especially given that I just picked up God of War on PC for a very reasonable price. Sony are not leading the way this gen for gamers. PS Plus feels like its taken forever to arrive and runs at a higher cost, games cost more, consoles cost more, performance isn't as good (doesnt make a huge difference though).

Its like the roles have been reversed. Microsoft is now like the Sony of the PS3 era and Sony are like the Microsoft of the 360 era.
If Sony keeps increasing prices, they'll be like the PS3, I mean 70 dollars a game plus the console is more??

what am I missing here? Didn't this come out literally ages ago? If it was on GamePass I'd certainly check it out, but not going to spend actual money on it.
looks like it is series-x/ps5 4k@60 and maybe some other goodies.

should be free for existing owners, not sure if it is though

oh ok. They just called it a 'release' a trailer and I remember playing this on a free weekend a damn long time ago. It was a good game, not amazing iirc. But would definitely give it a spin on GamePass.

Look, it's an interesting opinion, but I don't quite gel with it. MS are trying to buy up the gaming industry, and once they have that accomplished, it will be fascinating to see what happens. They are not a philanthropic organization - they want domination and the profits it brings with it.

It was always said though that Sony would be the premium option, and as to your opinion it is not leading or worth it, well, I, and a lot of others, obviously disagree.

But I'm not here to start a war - It was just a friendly poke that if you going to diss Sony in your Xbox thread, you are going to get a response.

You really cannot go wrong with either console.

PS Plus Extra is "ok", there are currently about 4 games I want to play in the catalogue (still worth the R1200/year though).
Game Pass Ultimate is "great" - there are just so many more first party + day 1 titles available.

The entire Playstation experience however, I would say is more polished. I would give the PS5 a 9/10 and the Series X a 8/10 (I include the "os" in this)

The ultimate combo definitely is a PC capable of or exceeding 1440p @ 60FPS and a PS5 (this route obviously costs at least 50% more - or an extra console) - and this is probably a "water is wet" statement

I have family that are die-hard PS fans so I get it. I was recently 'forced' into a GPU upgrade and picked up a 3060 Ti. Combined with the fact that God of War, Spider Man, and Horizon are currently all on Steam for R699 or less, and quite surprisingly have been seriously well optimised to the point that they look amazing on a GTX 1060 I dont really have any other motivation to get a PS5. I have limited time these days anyway and a backlog of games to get through, so for me, I think this is my setup for the next few years!

:p

That said

GamePass Ultimate rocks cause of PC included
PS Plus Extra rocks
PS Plus Premium in SA sucks donkey balz cause of the lack of streaming.

Granted Xbox dont do streaming in SA either but at least you can play 360 games on Series Console and dont have to keep the 360 around like I do with PlayStation 2/3 (As per pic above).

Yeah, makes total sense.

I had a series X.
Then I wanted to play God of War, and also wanted to play first-person shooters with keyboard/mouse, so bought a lounge PC and sold the Series. I've put 50 hours in to HZD on PC (with a series controller), it was great.
Then for some reason I wanted a PS5 (I want to play HFW, GoW Ragnarok, and PS Plus Extra looked decent for the price), so got that too

But didn't Somy also buy Bungie for 2 billion and recently a stake of 14% in the developers of Elden Ring.

So I don't understand what's the point on MS buying up studios?

Or wait is this to protect gamers from the dreaded Microsoft juggernaut?

So you honestly believe Sony is in this for the greater good ie the gamers depsite all they have did so far?

Aaai. Look, you were the one to start this in the first place....and I have just noticed you are an old account with few posts and are likely a clone account just looking to stir.

As you were.

Noted bud, but if asking relevant questions makes me a clone, relevant in that those are Sony's actions not anyone else's, then I am guilty.

Still enjoy my PlayStation as much as my Xbox Series X.

Catch you again in this thread when Sony saves gaming again.

Just don't call me out in the Man Utd thread please

Anyone figure out how to connect Bluetooth headphones without a USB receiver?

I have a JBL 650BTNC that I use for work and thought it might put it to use for games as well...

No Blueteeth on Xbox sadly. Unless you connect the headphones to your TV
