Yeah, for now at least :)

There will be next gen updates coming as time goes on as well

For split screen fun i'd recommend Halo franchise as well as GOW :)

Destiny 2 (By the creators of Halo ie: Bungie)
Beyond Light the new expansion hit same day as Xbox and they working on Next Gen FX for it to drop soon.
Free on GamePass.


You can pick up the game at any time.

Be sure to get Gears Ultimate and Gears 4 as well.

Which of you gents would be interested in Gears Campaign on Insane mode? (Co-op)

I still need to play the Halo series before Infinite releases. I've only briefly played Halo 3 on 360.

You 1 better than me, I only ever played Halo 1 or 2? waaaaaaay back. I know the whole story (Who can forget "Red vs Blue") and all but never got to play it. Think 3 came out same time as the World of Warcraft bug bit me. Was all MMO downhill from there..

Been told the mechanics/gameplay is very similar to Destiny so will def give it a try one day.

At least you know the story. Gears, Fable, Elder scrolls and Fallout kept me busy on 360.

But looking forward to give Halo MCC a try on next gen consoles. I think 343 are busy doing some next gen magic on it.

The consoles pretty much run 24/7. Xbox One also switched off but kept running is some low power consumption mode to allow a person to download games still

I might just be struggling with the newness of it all, but oh, Microsoft. A massive software house that goes out of their way to make things complex. Just like replacing the control panel in Win10 has created a mess of settings that literally needs more clicks to accomplish the same thing, and most people are forced to use the search to even find things - I feel that same spirit carries over to the Xbox UI and this irritates me more than it should. On the console, the focus should first and foremost be games. It's not.

The Home page consist of 6 tiles of your most recent games/apps, and a shortcut to your Games and Apps menu. The rest of the screen is wasted on "showcase" items that they hope you buy, and I could not care any less about it. Spam me with a showcase when I go into the Shop, not on the Home page. Now, the most recent items should not be a problem in most scenarios, but the 6 tiles is just not enough, especially if it gets cluttered with every single thing you do like go into settings, or launch apps like Youtube or Netflix, or setup your new Xbox causing you to explore all kinds of things. Now your "most recent" is utterly unusable for launching a game - on a GAMES CONSOLE! I can't launch a game, on a games console, on its home screen!!! What are they thinking? Let the recent apps scroll to the right, or split games and apps, or instead of wasting space on the spotlight items, let me create my own shortcuts then. Now I have to open the Games and Apps, scroll down to games, filter it by most recent, and find my title there. Its a mess. Even the old "Blades" system at least isolated my games in one place.
Thank goodness for quick resume! On the guide button I can find the games in "paused" state an launch from there, but there should really never be a scenario where I don't see at least a handful of games on the home screen.

I can write an entire other paragraph on how my MIC refused to work in-game, because of a Win10-like Microphone security in my profile that I had to dig through menus to find; I can mention how I need to tap 7 times just to get to the setting to adjust volume on my mic, or how adding a game to home does nothing but clutter up the interface even more with a total seperate page for the one game.

I'm sure I will get "better" at navigating the console efficient and fast, but for now I've gone and deleted all the cluttered rubbish I could. I just want to launch a bunch of games. It's should really not try to wrestle me for it.

Just to add an update to this.

From "My games and apps", I created a new group, called it shortcuts, and added the games I currently have in there.

Then on Home, I customised it and added the "Shortcuts" group and moved it as high as I could.

Now I have a very workable solution where on the homescreen I go one screen down and see all my games in one place. Nice!

Did the same with apps.

It's an acceptable workaround to me, but does require fiddling that should have been default imo. Kudos for having the customisation options at least.

New niggle I found is that I can't join wifi unless I unplug the Lan cable. Hope they patch that.

Still loving the Series X though! Totally hooked on Gears Tactics! Its like violent chess.
 
Is anyone else getting really slow download speeds? I'm getting about a quarter of what I should be getting. I always make sure no games are running in the background but I just cant seem to get my full internet speed.

Having the same problem... was blaming my Rain LTE.
Back of my mind did think Microsoft might be swamped with all the new consoles updating...

Whichever it is, at least my games are installed now, bar Froza, that keeps on stalling on downloads so I'll play what I have for now and try installing that later.

Indeed you have to close any open games and should download at normal speed.

Anyone played high high quality remux rips on the device with Atmos and hdr /dv?

No hell the thing has been stealing all my internet most of the week.

I’ve also never closed any games to make downloads happen. You shouldn’t need to ever intervene.

What is your full line speed though?

Never needed to close any open games in my life and that defeats the purpose of Quick Resume anyway.

Atmos is a problem on most devices when ripped as Plex doesn’t support it on anything but the Shield I believe, but I don’t have an Atmos setup to test against specifically.

Same for Dolby Vision, I suspect, but haven’t specifically tested yet.

HDR works fine though.

I saw the download speed is a big people have reported.

Plex does support it but you have to put transcoding off. DV is an issue with the disc player so would like to check the rips.

I never use transcoding, but yeah makes sense it would support it only then like with all passthrough tech.

Good to know it works now then, it didn’t work a few months ago when trying it at a mates place and the official consensus was you need a shield.

Atmos worked on my one x through Kodi.
