Xbox Series X / S

I had slow downloads on Day One but I think the M$ servers got a hammering, now I am getting normal download speeds.

Be mindful that if you enable Atmos on the Xbox it states that the receiver at all times as the global output is Atmos.

It doesn’t mean the content playing inside that is actually in Atmos.

Definitely doesn’t work with Kodi that I’m aware of.

Been slow since day one. Quite a bit better now, but downloads are still all over the show - reporting fast download speeds the one moment, then going all slow again. Might simply be a reporting issue though. It even complained about my 'slow' 50/50mbps line at one stage yesterday while the download were seemingly stalled.

Network seems to be OK. Just Downloads that is giving issues...

I been playing Destiny all weekend and that is as sable as can be. My brother on PS4 on the other hand is complaining big time.
 
To those complaining about slow downloads, I suggest you plug in ... I've already discovered before that my WiFi only delivers less than half the line speed of my fibre connection, due to a crappy router. The Xbox has an option under network settings where you can test your internet connection and it will show you the download speed it's getting.

So I moved my Xbox close to a LAN cable and plugged it in directly and left it overnight ... it sucked down 700GB of content at the line speed. That initial system update on setup is 750MB, fyi. It's the games that are monsters, but it's hard to say no with Gamepass Premium.

In other news, I'm a sad panda because I've got no Xbox friends :( I connected my Steam account, but still no friends pick up ... so I think that means all my PC gaming buddies are not dabbling in the dark arts of consoles lol. Anybody wanna be my buddy????
 
I'm bummed that Xbox makes getting headphones working impossible. My Bluetooth headphones? Not supported. My wireless PC gaming headphones? Put the dongle into the USB port ... nothing detected. And no built-in mic on the controller (like the PS5 has). Is my only option to buy a dedicated headset that is made for the Xbox?

True, the controller has a weird flat port at the bottom, as well as a 3.5mm jack. I thought it supported USB-C headphones coz the controller's charging port has now changed to USB-C, but that wouldn't fit. Now I need to find 3.5mm headphones *grins*
 
Does anybody know of any relaxing / uplifting Xbox games? It seems the bulk all involve killing demons, mutants, aliens or zombies ... and that's not necessarily that fun. So that leaves sports games and car games (and Farming Simulator), but I was hoping for something a bit less stressful that still had some variety.

ROFL, I saw that. That can't be a serious suggestion though.

It did make me wonder if now that the Xbox Series X has this much raw grunt, whether Microsoft will bring out it's version of PSVR for it. Surely now is the time.

Dying to see Forza, still downloading. Played some gears 5 and it’s just amazing. All this for the price of a mid range gaming rig.
