Xbox Series X / S

If I download something on my Xbox Series S on Gamepass and then MS decide to remove it ... do I lose access to the downloaded version?

Yes. If you launch it, it will have that popup asking Do you own this? You won't lose progress just access until you buy it.

Need to buy one. Should I wait for Black Friday or check Gumtree?

Depends. Second hand market for the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles and consoles in general are very bad so they go for cheap sometimes. If you are happy with second hand, then usually that is where you will find the best value for money.

@NeonNinja I second this, just note the warranty period for the console is 1 year from date of purchase.
I've seen the series S go for around 4.5k on carb, and the X is usually around 8k

I do recommend if you have a Series X out of warranty and you notice the fan spins up to replace the thermal paste, loads of youtube tutorials and it's fairly easy to do, makes a world of difference and replacing the paste with some quality after market stuff will surely extend the lifespan plenty.

I replaced the thermal pads too, gave it a proper shakedown.

Was very satisfying to not hear the fan spin up at all anymore after applying some quality stuff.

I don't think this will be necessary very soon if you have a Series S, very efficient console that one, beats the Series X and PS5 by a mile in terms of power draw / efficiency, but the Series X can run hot, so if it isn't whisper quiet give the thermal paste / pads a bash.

Argh, it looks like Diablo IV is one of the games that won't be on Game Pass Standard. And I was thinking of dropping to it when the price increases come. I own Diablo IV on pc but bought the expansion on XBox.

They giving more and more reasons not to keep my sub after current one expires in March 2026....

Much ado bout nothing really. Aren't we all already on Ultimate?
Changes are in lower tiers, so doesn't affect Ultimate members.

And whats the difference in money between standard and ultimate? 8 - 9 dollars a month? not an issue

How much is it going to be.
Price is going up by a lot and then Standard is being introduced as a new tier.
What is it going to? Think am paying 120 or 130 now, and get half that back from cuz I share with. Sharing sub with someone makes it a non issue for us. if it goes to R200 will shrug and still gladly pay it.

Yeah it's going up to R200.

I was hoping to drop to Standard. I already pay for Game Pass Ultimate, PS Plus and Humble Monthly Bundle. Will drop the Humble Bundle when that expires.

The price increase really stinks to be honest but for me Game pass ultimate really works well since I have a gaming pc and xbox series s and one s.

I also share my sub with someone so will save a bit.

It still includes EA Play so it still offers some value. I wonder if the increase EA play did a while back hasn't forced MS to increase Game pass sub and have their own restructure or increase also.

Had the same thought. Since the EA access is the standout offering in Ultimate
