Xbox Series X / S

I genuinely wonder if anyone bought one at that price

Yeah, well, literally just bought "my Steam box" for the lounge.

Will pop on Bazzite and move over to a system that doesn't require a monthly sub for online gaming.

GamePass no longer value for money.

If a proper Steam box comes out with a reasonable price, the K8 can move the the office and replace my old 4th-gen i5 with Nvidia 1060 that I barely use these days.

What's worse is there was a chip shortage when these consoles were released, so it should have been especially more expensive back then...
Exactly, it's pretty scary how much MS and even Sony have increased the pricing of their consoles. Not to mention game prices and the actual lack of new games.
Developers need to start realising these multi-year to almost a decade for development isn't what gamers want. We want games, I mean if the 7th gen could get multiple sequels out of it, why did the 8th and 9th barely get anything?

Because every game needs to be a huge open world with a thousand pointless knick-knacks to collect for a cosmetic reward. And if the graphics can't display every blade of grass in 4K splendor, it's trash

problem is, barely any games do 4k and blades of grass. But I hear you, instead of tight, good storytelling and decent enough visuals they want GTA 6.
I mean honestly when playing a GTA game, the visuals are just a plus. You're playing it for the story.

xbox (and microsoft) is dead. sony won?
Won what? How many games are they literally selling?
This generation no one won, especially not the consumer.
Actually PC won
Yes, PCs are selling more games than consoles in terms of revenue, having claimed 53% of the non-mobile gaming market in 2024, according to a report from investment research firm Epyllion. This marks a shift from previous years, with PC gaming revenue growth outpacing console revenue growth since 2021.

PC in actual fact accounts for more than that.

A niece piece of the mobile pie is actually played on PC via emulation. BlueStacks alone has over 100m monthly users.

If accounted for the figure will probably be closer to 65-70%.

Consoles only exists for Sony and Nintendo to peddle their overpriced games. Microsoft thought they could but...

Last game I emulated I ended up buying. RDR1.

Not like "basic" emulation is bad its not all there yet to behonest.
