For the 500GB on special normal price was R3499 but most places sold the 2 Game bundle for R3999.
The One X was selling for R6799 and at the same time the 1TB One S was selling for R6999

That makes no sense TBH. The 1X has much better specs and is also 1TB, but it was R200 cheaper...

It feels like the entire purpose of the 1TB 1S is to make the other skews look like really good value for money.

BTW looks like Takealot has more stock of SX

MS SA/Retailers really needs to drop the pricing on Xbox one S consoles to about R3999 for the 1TB with 2 games or something. Otherwise some poor misinformed buyers will buy the One S because it has a disc drive for the same price. Without knowing the Series S is the far more advanced next gen version.
 
Let's say both the Series S and Xbox one X are both R5999. Which one would be the better buy? Or which would you buy?

1TB SSD and slightly more capable GPU with disc drive

Or

Series S with much better CPU and improved architecture. Weaker GPU but faster SSD speeds and next gen features.

I think the new architecture the Series S is using already a big factor.

Already picked the Series S... twice ;)

A perfect system (For Me) would have been Series S's Board in a One X case. Would have made better sense to the consumer as well.... Can have a "Next Gen" same old look/ability aka "Updated One x" or a beefy monster that blow your mind away "Series X". Cash strapped? Oh there is an Old One S for you over there.

I think the XB1X has the advantage for playing XB1 games due to raw GPU performance. When the next-gen games start coming out using the new RDNA2 features, I think the XSS will have the advantage.

I agree

I would have liked if MS sold the SS for $249. But i think this will be the case by maybe end of next year if not sooner.

The S is definitely more future proof console. I don't knoe why they scrapped the One X though? And keep the One S? Why not discontinue both last gen machines?

The one thing i like about the XB1X is that it runs 360 and XO games in 4K mode. SS misses out on this feature. Due to it's weaker GPU. The SS is capable of at least running some of those in 4k mode? The 1X had a CPU bottleneck. So it's very interesting.

I would think that when RDNA2 is being utilized that the 4TF SS is at least as capable as the One X in terms of overall performance if not more so.

Thats the thing, it is... the bottleneck in the SS is the 10 Gig Ram not the GPU/CPU, also why SS runs One S (8 gig) enhanced titles and not the One X (12 Gig)
 
Must say that the ability to play a game before it's completely downloaded is pretty damn cool.

The kid has a free evening tonight and a buddy coming over so he unboxed his XSX, and then hit the books so the he can play this evening - d/l'ing games to the "ready to start" point allows them to try out a couple of different games

You only going to get 2- 3 years more support for the 1X whilst you going to get 5 to 7 years support for the SS.

Too True..
Saved me some bandwidth on pillars of eternity, started it and did not like the turn base combat so I canceled that puppy before it even hit 50%

Sadly some games like Jedi Fallen Order have some crappy DRM that drops you if it struggles to phone home.

Started to play it before download was complete and dropped me twice now cause it failed to "call home" so will have to wait for downloads not to hog the line :(

But this is also available with XB1? Sure I saw the option on some of my downloads but never tried it.

Yes, I think the feature has been around for a while on both console platforms and Blizzard games on PC.

I've only every really gamed on PC so this is my first experience of this form of delivery for more than just Blizzard games - it's really a neat way to quickly experience a game esp if you have decent fibre (had the Xbox plugged in via LAN point and d/l's were consistently hitting the 190 mark :love:)
