Been playing Original Assassins Creed on the PS3. Having recently finished Odyssey on Xbox, thinking I start from 1 till date.

At 1st I was hmmm this is not bad, I can see how tech progressed but the core FX essence was there and playable. In fact I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. On Thursday I got gifted a copy of AC Valhalla from a fellow forum member. (Thank you, again). So I started to install it on Friday.

Was still playing Original AC on Saturday while my Xbox was finishing Valhalla's install.

Saturday night while eating got some big screen time and saw Valhalla was installed and thought I would just check it out and see how it looks.

All I can say is HOLY S1HT!!!
That game looks amazing, you can clearly see we jumped into "Next Gen" and this is only the start of the generation. Even on a Series S Up-scaled to 4K it blows Odyssey and Origin out the water, I can only dream what games will look like 2-3 years from now.

Side note: It broke Original AC's atmosphere... now the old game looks like crap :(
Might also be cause I have to play PS3 on 42"
Haha it does look amazing.

My wife also played all the old Assassin's Creed games up until the Valhalla now. It's such a good series.

I miss the days when Assassin's Creed was about rooftop jumping and assassinating templars.
I stopped somewhere around 3/brotherhood, when I saw the ships I was like nope.
Similar experience with the NFS games.

I was pleasantly surprised by Forza Horizon 4 though, I’d honestly say that was the best game intro I ever experienced.

For me it feels like there are 2 "types" of games in the series... well bar the Chronicle "mobile" games.

Rooftop action = AC 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, Unity & Syndicate.
RPG = AC3, Black Flag, Origin, Odyssey and Valhalla

Rouge is kinda odd ball for obvious reasons

Same. Got Black Flag and the ships put me off AC. Others may argue that it added to the game but for me it was an annoyance...

Loved 1, 2 Brotherhood and Revelations.

Wasn't a fan of 3, in fact it was AC3 that made me lose interest in the series over all. If I did not buy a new Xbox, that was void of games and that Origin + Odyssey sale was going for R200 each I probably still have ignored the series.

Being a fan of RPG's like Witcher, Dragon Age and Skyrim, Origin just grabbed me in the right way and so did Odyssey.

Haven't played Black Flag. Bought it on a Steam sale years ago, never installed it.
Origin the ship section is a mere "cut scene" filler but the game is not AC anymore. Its more like a RPG with AC elements. Odyssey you use ships to navigate the island, but very much like Origin an RPG. I recently started to play Syndicate that reminded me so much of original that I started to play that again.

The fact that they play as different games for me is a bonus, esp now that we entering winter. Will play Original AC at night in bed and Valhalla in front of the big screen on weekends :D

I don't see Syndicate as a rooftop action AC. Too heavily focused on carriages and street-level action. It's the GTA of the series :)

Amazing game though. One of the best.

Unity was the last of the proper rooftop games in the series imo.

Well Black Flag went on a weird path, but man it was fun actually

Too bad Odyssey is not in the list, but great to see the tech grow. Great stuff
