I was waiting for the Xbox headset and then a few weeks ago I received an email from Raru that they had the Arctis 9X in stock at R4300. I decided to rather go for the 9X as the reviews were very good.

It is the most comfortable headset I have ever owned, the sound quality is great and the batteries last forever.

It also works perfectly with my Samsung Q80T via BT for normal TV and other streaming services. As there is no quick resume for apps on the Xbox I use the apps on the TV and it transitions smoothly between games and YT.

I am very happy with my purchase.

I agree. I'm a big fan of the Arctis series. At more than double the price of the XBox Wireless Headset it will come down to how much you are prepared to pay.

Oh that's another thing that's nice about the Xbox headset. It can also connect to normal bluetooth devices, even at the same time as being connected to the XBox.

BT Games has a few series X consoles, online-only no stock in store
Broke down and purchased one

I want to experience 4K console gaming (current have a switch) and as a casual player, Xbox gold -> ultimate looks like a great deal

if we use 4-5 year console life/depreciation then it stings a little less :giggle:
Considering that the One S is selling now for almost twice the price it was at launch, there might not be a depreciation.

That is because of current chip shortage. Makes no sense to buy a One S for the same price as a Series S.

December 2019 they where selling for R3k retail. Reason I remember is I was trying to decide between a PS4 + games for R3500 and XBone S for R3000 or XBone X for R4000. Then "life" happened and I had to replace tires instead.

Edit: Ok memory skewed the prices a bit. Found the old ad I was using to try and convince the SO to get one.

Remember to buy Xbox Gold sub for 3 years then use the Join GamePass trick to instantly get 3 years of GamePass Ultimate for free trick. (Mentioned here)

Close enough, I got an S for about R3599 back in 2018 so yeah seems about right, I know someone who paid R5k for the X just before lockdown.

Hello gamers. I am looking to purchase the Xbox series S for my son(10yrs) and occasional gaming by myself. Don't have the capital right now to purchase the series X (covid and all). Would the series S be sufficient enough for our needs or is it just too bad. Would it be better advisable to continue saving up and buying the series X at a later stage?

Thanks for any advise given

I bought a Series X and my brother has the S. There isn't a game that he cant play that I can, and frankly I haven't really seen any games yet that truly tax the Series X. I'm sure they're coming but at this stage I think an S is a perfectly good investment, especially for a 10 year old and a casual gamer - you'll be fine with this setup. Use any spare cash to get a headset. Got a cheap Turtlebeach set myself and now I don't keep people awake if I steal a game late at night.

Mine arrives tomorrow, time to see if it was worth the price or should I just have saved the 5k and got the series S
It's worth it, just for the respect you earn from people like me :D

The S is good value. The X is more the (almost) no compromise experience. Doubt you'll regret it.

Mine was dispatched Monday morning, should arrive today apparently. There’s no online tracking available lol, the dispatch email said I should call to see the status of the parcel, moved back 5 years I see

So they are "sourcing in some of the consoles from some of our local JHB branches as I have run out of stock here at the HQ"

I really hope this doesn't turn into a "sorry, we are out of stock" story.

I need this delivered this week, so I can queue some downloads and binge the weekend

When I gave them a call, they told me that if a store had stock - they could place it on my name and i could just go pick it up. Nothing available in my province though, maybe you could have some luck.

looks like store pickups were way faster as I know they were ready last Friday already.

R200 for shipping, that’s not overnight is madness tho. 3 days.
Good idea. I am in WP and have 3 stores not too far from me.

like an impatient kid

I'm jealous of you guys. You get to unpack your toys for the first time and get wowed by the packaging, only to fire it up and get wowed again by how instant everything feels...
The packaging was pretty good
